"Ok Natsu, please explain what happened" Gramps spoke up from the bar. I explained to the guild about what happened with Lucy and especially the twins. "I'll see if I can find something in the guild's library" Levy said before running to guild's library. Gajeel silently followed behind her.
I looked over at what Lucy was doing with Mira. Mira was braiding Lucy's hair and I noticed she gave her a dress. It was a white summer dress with a pink ribbon wrapped around her waist and tied into a bow at the back. 'Where did Mira find that?' I wondered.
"Natsu, you are to take care of Lucy since she considers you her 'daddy'" Gramps said which snapped me back to our conversation. "Aye" I said happily and everyone dispersed back to their own activities.
I walked over to Lucy and Mira with Gray and Erza. Lucy whipped her head around towards me and ran up to my feet. "Daddy! Daddy! Look!" she said excitedly as she showed me her freshly braided hair and dress. "You look really pretty Lucy" I said joyfully which she brightly smiled back. She bounced up and down happily before hugging my legs.
"Ahem!" Gray just had to ruin the moment. He kneeled down beside me to Lucy's level as Mira gave my scarf back to me. "Hi Lucy, my name is Gray" he introduced himself. "Hi Gray" she replied as she fiddled with the hem of her dress, shyly. Gray gave her his 'cool' smile and I rolled my eyes. I picked Lucy up and walked away to one of the guild's empty tables. I swear I could feel Gray's stare burning through my head but I didn't care.
I sat down with Lucy on my lap. She blinked twice before looking up at me curiously. Suddenly her stomach growled and she blushed. She looks so cute when she's embarrassed. "You hungry Lucy?" I chuckled, Lucy pouted and nodded. "What do you want to eat?" I asked and she put her hand on her chin in thought.
"Pancakes!" she said happily as she decided, I smiled brightly at her cheerfulness. "Alright, you wait right here and I'll get your pancakes" I said as I got up and placed Lucy back on the seat. "Aye!" she said, like a cute female version of Happy. I walked to the bar and told Mira Lucy's order and my order of spicy chicken wings.
"Mira, where did you get that dress for Lucy?" I asked the question that was bothering me. "Oh, I have a whole closet of clothes for little girls. You never know when you need to dress up a cute little girl like Lucy" she replied with a glint in her eyes. Remind me to never ask her about her closet. "So how does it feel to be a dad?" Mira asked and I had to think about it.
"I'm not sure. I mean I raised Happy but it's different with Lucy but I can't put my finger on why" I replied honestly. I heard heavenly giggling which made me curious. I found the source, Lucy, but the annoying thing was that now she was sitting on Gray's lap! He used his Ice Make magic to make a small Happy sculpture.
"Do a pony next, do a pony next please!" Lucy said excitedly, almost bouncing on his lap. I growled as I watched their conversation. "Gray's taking's Daddy's little girl" Mira giggled, "I'll bring your food over when it's ready" she added. I stormed over and glared at Gray which he gladly returned.
"What are you doing here with Lucy, Ice Princess?" I said, clearly displeased. "It's not my fault that you took her away before she got to know me. She's my friend too" he replied wrapping his arms around her waist as we stared down each other. Lucy turned her head repeatedly towards Gray and me. She seemed confused on why we were glaring each other down. "Here's your lunch Lucy" Mira said interrupting our soon to be fight. She placed Lucy's lunch in front of her. "Thank you, Aunty Mira!" Lucy said cheerfully before digging into her pancakes.
I sat opposite Lucy and Gray as Mira placed my spicy chicken wings in front of me. I glared at Gray as I teared into my food. "Daddy, is something wrong?" Lucy asked in the middle of her meal curiously. I snapped out of my staring contest with Gray to look down to her. "Nothing's wrong" I said quickly smiling, scratching the back of my head.
She seemed to not believe me but didn't question it and went back to eating her pancakes. Once we finished our meals, I quickly snatched Lucy off of Gray's lap and walked away from him again. I took Lucy to the bar and sat her on one of the stools before sitting next to her. Mira gave her a strawberry milkshake to drink. She slurped up the milkshake through the curly straw and I couldn't help but think she was cute.
I noticed her cheeks started flushing brightly red and she was sweating like she ran a marathon. I wondered what was wrong when she closed her eyes and her body tilted towards me, almost falling off the stool if I didn't catch her. I panicked as I held her in my arms, she was breathing heavily. "Lucy?!" I exclaimed, gaining everyone's attention. Everyone crowded around us and Gray felt her forehead with his hand.
"She has a fever" he stated, "Wendy, can you heal her?" I asked worriedly. "I'll try" she replied as she stepped in front of me. She hovered her hands over Lucy and a bright glow came from her hands. Once the glow faded, "I can't help her fever" she said sadly. "Why not?" Mira asked, "because this isn't a normal fever" she answered. "Ah ha!" Levy exclaimed which surprised everyone.
"What is it Levy?" Erza asked, "well I've read about this. So, in simple terms, her magic energy is overwhelming her small body. Her small physical form isn't use to the magic energy that she had before. I've read that the fever is just her small body getting use to the increase in magic energy. The fever should blow over within 24 hours" Levy explained. I was relieved that nothing seriously was wrong but that doesn't mean I'm not worried about her.
