Daddy's Little Lucy

Chapter 3 - Fever

           

Gramps suggested I take Lucy back to my place with Gray. "Remind me again why your frozen butt is coming?" I said with a scowl as we walked to my place. Gray sighed, "for the thousandth time Natsu. Gramps said I can use my ice magic to help Lucy's fever and if those twins come for her, you won't be outnumbered" he explained. "Pff I don't need you. I can take care of them myself" I boasted.

"Don't be such an idiot! We don't know what kind of magic they process or how powerful they are and you want to fight them on your own? What happened to being a team?" he said. "I rather team up with anyone but you!" I shouted, "well I guess we are in an agreement but Gramps said we had to and we can't go against him" he replied. I groaned but Gray was right.

"Fine but stay out of my way. I'm gonna make them regret ever messing with Lucy" I said, "whatever" he sighed. "She's my friend too you know, why do you have to hog her to yourself all the time?" he asked. "He loves her~" Happy said, "SHUT UP HAPPY!" I exclaimed.

"How do you feel when Lucy's around?" Gray asked. "Well," I had to think hard about it, "it's always fun to be around her and when she's not around it just doesn't feel right. I feel like I always have to be with her" I replied honestly. "Are you seriously that dense that you don't even know your own feelings? You obviously love her you dimwit!" he shouted. "How can I be in love with my best friend?" I said. He looked at me like he was ready to slam his head or my own into a hard brick wall.

We finally arrived at my place and as soon as we walked in I carefully laid Lucy on the couch. I placed my pillow underneath her head and laid my blanket over her. Gray sat next to her, near her head and placed his hand on her forehead. Lucy's face relaxed as he used his ice magic to cool her down. I sat down at Lucy's feet and watched her peaceful sleeping face.

We sat in silence while watching Lucy worriedly, only hearing Happy munching on a fish. I thought about what Gray said to me before. 'Am I in love with Lucy?' I wondered as I looked closely at Lucy.

"This reminds me of when Lucy had a cold during the Flower Viewing Party" Happy spoke up, breaking the silence. "Yeah and you both uprooted one of Magnolia's prized rainbow cherry blossom tree for her" Gray said. Happy's and my face became pale as we remember Gramps punishment when he found out it was us. "Never speak about that ever again" I said trembling, shaking the memory out of my head.

I had an idea, "why don't we get Lucy a gift for when she wakes up?" I suggested. "For once you had a good idea" Gray replied. "Hey! I can come up with good ideas more than once!" I argued as I jumped up off the couch. "Most of your ideas almost get us killed!" Gray argued back, standing up ready to fight me.

"Can you not fight while Lucy's sick? She looks like she's in pain" Happy spoke up worriedly. Gray and I looked down at Lucy. She was breathing heavily again and her brow was scrunched up. Gray instantly sat down and eased Lucy with his magic. I was mad at myself, I couldn't do anything to help sooth Lucy and that I couldn't stop those twins from turning her into a child. I swore to myself that I will return Lucy to her normal self and beat up those twins.

I decided to get some fresh air, "I'm going to go find a gift for Lucy, coming Happy?" I said. "Aye!" Happy said flying to my side. "See you later Gray, Lucy..." I said as I ran out the door. "Are we buying a gift for Lucy?" Happy asked as he flew beside me. "Yeah, I wonder what I should get her?" I replied.

We arrived at the market and began looking around for a gift for Lucy. I went through a lot of rejected ideas till I found the one. I saw a red dragon plush toy sitting on a shelf on one of the stalls. It reminded me of Igneel. "That would be perfect for Lucy" I said, "Natsu don't you mean that would be perfect for you?" Happy said. "I think Lucy will love it. I mean who wouldn't love a dragon!" I replied, "how much for the red dragon?" I asked the stall owner. "1,000 jewels" he answered. I paid the man and he gave me the plush.

We ran back to our place and I was surprised at what I saw. Gray was outside our house fighting the two twins while Lucy was laying against a tree with a blanket over her. "Happy hold this for me" I said as I chucked the dragon plush to him. I joined the fight with Gray, I face the blue haired twin while Gray now faced the red haired twin.

"Are these two the ones that turned Lucy into a child?" Gray asked without taking his eyes off his opponent in front of him. "Yeah these are the twins I mentioned" I replied, "who are you and why did you turn Lucy into a child?!" I shouted at the twins. "I'm Kazuma and this is my twin brother Ryuki. Although we told you our names, we won't tell you our plans. It would be dumb if we told you" the blue haired twin, Kazuma said and I gritted my teeth in anger.

"So now that introductions are out of the way" the red haired twin, Ryuki said with a smirk as he and his brother shared a look. They both raised their foot off the ground, "Quake!" they both chanted as they stomped their foot to the ground. As soon as their foot connected with the ground, cracks appeared on the ground coming quickly towards us. I quickly picked up Lucy before Gray and I jumped away from the attack.

"So, they use Earth Magic" Gray said to me as I laid Lucy under another tree. "Happy take care of Lucy" I said as I charged at Kazuma. "Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" I chanted as I threw a flaming punch towards him. "Rock Wall!" he chanted and the ground rose into a wall blocking my attack. 'I won't let them take Lucy' I thought with determination.
