Chapter 7 - Flower Crown Made of Ice

Once we entered the guild, Alzack came running to us with the child back carrier in his hands. It was a fabric which crisscrossed across the chest and could hold the child safely on the person's back. "Here you go Natsu" Alzack said as he handed it to me. "Thanks Alzack" I said, "come on Natsu we need to pick a job" Gray said as he walked past me and Lucy to the request board.

We followed behind him and looked up at all the requests. One caught my eye, "lets do this!" I said excitedly. "Are you insane?!" Gray said as he looked at the request in my hand. "Fight a giant lizard monster, do you want Lucy to get nightmares?!" he continued. I felt Lucy's hand tighten in mine and I noticed she looked a bit scared at the thought of a giant lizard monster. "Yeah you're right" I sighed, disappointed that I couldn't fight a giant monster. Then I had an idea, "but I'll get Mira to hold onto it for us" I added, holding it for later.

"What about defeating a dark guild?" Happy asked while pointing to another request on the board. "Lucy would be their primary target if they shot their magic at us, so we should look for a job with less danger for her" Erza said. "What about this one?" Gray asked showing us the request. It was asking for wizards to find a stolen rare jewel. "Good choice Gray" Erza said and we took the request to Mira to approve. I also told her to hold onto the monster job for me and she happily did. Who knows it might be a dragon!

We left the guild towards Magnolia Station, Lucy and I walked hand-in-hand the whole way there. "Do we have to take a train?" I asked sickly, "yes, it's the quickest way to get to our destination" Erza replied. "Where are we going anyway?" Happy asked, "our client lives in Clover" she replied. "Argh! That's like on the other side of Fiore!" I complained, "now you're just exaggerating" Gray said.

"I am not!" I argued, "yeah you are!" he argued back. "Not" "are" "not" "are" "not" "are" we continued back and forth. "IF YOU TWO DON'T GET ON THIS TRAIN I WILL KICK YOU ALL THE WAY THERE!" Erza shouted. "Eeek! Yes ma'am!" we replied and I scooped Lucy into my arms, running onto the train as quickly as possible. I know it's weird for me to run onto a moving vehicle but knowing Erza she WOULD kick us all the way there. It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.

Anyway, we sat down in one of the compartments. I sat next to the aisle while Lucy sat beside me with Happy to look at the view through the window. Erza and Gray sat across from us and Erza had a tea in her hand. I don't know how she got it but it's best not to ask. As soon as the giant death trap AKA train started to move, I felt my motion sickness kicking up. "Oh just kill me now" I said, "it's only been a minute" Gray sighed.

"Is Daddy ok?" Lucy asked worriedly, putting her hands on my arm. "Daddy's got motion sickness" Happy said for me. "What's motion sickness?" she asked, "he gets sick on a moving vehicle" Happy explained. She still looked at me worriedly. "Lucy look over here" Gray said, distracting her from my motion sickness. He used his magic to create a flower crown made of ice. Her eyes widen in surprise "wow pretty!" she said as she stared at the ice flower crown. I growled quietly as my gut seemed to be doing somersaults in my stomach. If I wasn't about to throw up, I would be showing her my magic not Ice Princess'.

Gray crowned Lucy with the ice flower crown and she smiled brightly. "Big Brother, can you make another one?" Lucy asked, "sure" he replied as he made another one with his magic. "What are you going to do with it?" Gray asked. Lucy slid off her seat and climbed beside Gray's seat. She took the ice flower crown out of his hands and placed it on his head. "Big Brother looks so pretty!" Lucy said happily.

I inwardly snickered mainly because I was busy keeping my guts from coming out my mouth. I couldn't wait to tease him about this later when I'm not puking my brains out. "Thank you Lucy" Gray said with a smile on his face. "He loves~ her" Happy teased, "shut up cat!" Gray shouted. After a long hour of torture, I was so glad we finally arrived in Clover. I sluggishly walked off the train with Lucy pulling my hand.

"Is Daddy feeling better?" Lucy asked as she looked up at me. I gave her a big smile "yep I'm all better" I said happily and she smiled brightly at me. "Hurry up Ash-for-Brains!" Gray called out, I saw Erza and Happy with him near the station's exit. "Come on Daddy!" Lucy said pulling me towards them. I picked up my speed to run alongside her hand-in-hand.

Once we were outside the station, it was time to carry Lucy in the child back carrier. "Maybe I should carry Lucy" Gray said, "why? Didn't we agree that I would carry Lucy?" I asked glaring at him. "Knowing you, you will jump head first into danger and I can use my Ice Shield to protect Lucy from anything" he explained. "Would not!" I argued, "would too" he argued back. "Would not" "would too" "would not" "would too" "would not" "would too" we went back and forth again. "If both of you keep going, I will carry Lucy myself" Erza threatened. We both turned away from each other in a huff.

"We will stick to the plan. Natsu will carry Lucy and Gray will cover him if anything happens, understand?" Erza explained. "Aye" we both said, Gray was disappointed while I was ecstatic. I put the child back carrier on and Gray lifted Lucy into the carrier. It was like I was giving her a piggyback ride without using my arms. "Ready Lucy?" I asked happily, turning my head to look at her. "Aye!" she said excitedly. I chuckled, "well lets go!" I said with a big grin on my face as we walked towards the client's place.
