Daddy's Little Lucy

Chapter 19 - Love?

As soon as Lucy finished her cake, it was safe to approach her. She glared at me a few times just for even looking at her cake. I held her on my lap and bounced my legs every once in a while, making her giggle. "Daddy?" Lucy called out as she looked up at me. "Yes Lucy?" I replied, "what happened to Big Brother Sting and Big Brother Rogue?" she asked. "They had to check in with their guild" I explained.

After dinner, Gray and I took Lucy back to her apartment with Lucy's bag that we got back from Laxus. Once we were inside, Lucy changed into some pyjamas that Mira gave her and I tucked her into bed. I sat down next to her on the bed as I placed her dragon plush beside her and kicked Sting's pink teddy bear under her bed. "Daddy?" she called out, "yes Lucy?" I replied. "Can you read me a story?" she asked. "Pfft Flame Brain reading" Gray said laughing, "shut up Popsicle!" I shouted. I turned back towards Lucy, "sure Lucy, what story do you want to read?" I asked. She hopped out of bed and ran to her bag. She pulled out a children's picture book.

"Where did you get that?" I asked, "Aunty Levy gave it to me" she replied as she handed it to me. I watched as she climbed back into the bed and pulled the covers over herself. She had stars in her eyes as she was ready for her story. I shuffled over so that I was laying next to her and wrapped my arm around her. Her head rested on my arm as my head rested on the bed head. I held the book up in front of us and opened it up.

The book was titled 'My Baby Dragon' and half way through the story I noticed Lucy was slowly dozing off. By the time I finished the book, she was fully asleep cuddling her plush dragon. I kissed her forehead when I suddenly heard a chuckle as the light turned off. "Best friend? Yeah right" Gray said sarcastically before getting comfortable on the couch.

"Hey Gray?" I said, careful not to wake Lucy up. "What is it now Natsu?" he replied, "what does love feel like?" I asked. He groaned, "well...You would want to be around the person a lot and when they aren't around you would feel like something's missing. You would feel like you would want to keep that person safe no matter what and would want to stay by their side no matter what. You would want that person to be happy but mostly you would want the person to be the happiest around you. Make sense?" Gray explained. "Yeah...How do you know so much about this? Do you have someone you love?" I asked with a smirk.

"Shut up Pyro...and if you must know yes I do" he replied as he turned over so his back was facing me. "Juvia?" I said teasingly and there was a long silence. "Just go to bed Flame Brain, night" he replied, 'he didn't deny it' I thought. "Fine night Ice Princess" I replied and cuddled Lucy.

I took time to think about what Gray told me and everything he said was how I felt about Lucy. "I'm in love with Lucy" I mumbled to myself and I was glad Gray didn't hear me. I look down at little Lucy in my arms and kissed her forehead again. 'When you turn back to normal, I will tell you my feelings' I swore to myself and went to sleep.

The next morning, I was still asleep when I heard a deep chuckle and a high giggle. I slowly opened my eyes to Lucy and Gray standing over me on the bed. "Good morning Daddy!" Lucy greeted with a smile, "good morning Lucy" I smiled back. Something about how they were looking at me didn't feel right. "Hey Natsu guess what! Guess what-woah!" Happy exclaimed as he came through the open window. I gave him a confused look and noticed he was trying hard not to laugh. My bad feeling increased and I quickly ran to the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and saw ink drawn all over my face. I knew whose handy work this was, "GRAY!" I shouted.

I wiped my face with a wet hand towel to remove the ink and stomped out of the bathroom to find Gray, Lucy and Happy holding their side as they were laughing hysterically. I couldn't grab his shirt since he wasn't wearing one so I punched him in the face. We punched and wrestled each other on the floor. We were at each other's throat until Erza burst into the room and smashed our heads together. "Ow..." Gray and I both groaned as we stood up. Suddenly I heard crying, we turned to see it was Lucy crying on the bed. I quickly ran to her and sat her on my lap on the bed, hugging her. "What's the matter Lucy?" I asked. "Daddy and Big Brother...were fighting" Lucy said sniffling and the Happy flew into the room.

"I was the one who got Erza because you two didn't noticed she was crying from your fight" Happy explained. "I'm so sorry Lucy. I didn't mean to make you cry. Can you forgive me?" I cooed. She looked up at me with her puffy red eyes and nodded. She then turned towards Gray, this reminded me of when little Lucy first came into Fairy Tail. "I'm sorry too" Gray said with no hesitation and Lucy gave a small smile.

There was a small silence until we heard a small grumbling noise. Lucy instantly became embarrassed, "someone's hungry" I chuckled. "Lets go to the guild!" I cheered, "aye!" Happy and Lucy cheered then we all walked to the guild. Once we were there, we ordered and ate our breakfast. Lucy was colouring pictures when suddenly the guild doors burst open, revealing two people. "Where's Lucy?!" one of them shouted.
