I want to believe you

Heiji wants another chance and Kazuha tries to believe him.

Heiji x Kazuha

This is inspired by 2x11 from New Girl and I aged them up.

All what Kazuha wanted was to spend the day with Ran, Sonoko and Masumi on several Christmas parties and maybe have some little fun. What she hadn't anticipated was that her and Heiji pretty much shared the same circle of friends.

So the best thing she could to was trying to avoid him as good as possible. She didn't dare to let him even approach her, she'll make sure of it!

But obviously, the plan in her hand sounded much easier than the actual implementation.

Within seconds, Heiji was standing in front of her, already opening his mouth.

"Kazuha, would you please stop running away from me? There's something I need to talk with you about."

She vehemently shook her head. Kazuha didn't want to listen to his excuses. Heiji lied to her so many times, how can he expect her wanting to believe it?

If he wasn't interested in a serious relationship, he could've just told her instead of using complicated ways to hurt her.

"But I do not trust you", she replied whilst resting her head on the ground. Whatever he will say or do, she absolutely will not fall for it again!

Kazuha spotted Ran and decided her next move. Before Heiji could reply, she hurried to her and ignored his attempts to make her halt.

"Let's leave", she demanded to Ran.

"What? But we've just gotten here like ten minutes ago! Why should we-"

"Please", Kazuha tried again. When Ran still didn't seem to followed her demanding, she added: "Heiji is here."

"He is? Well, that's awesome! Maybe you can make up with him?"

"Are you serious?", Kazuha hissed back. "Did you forget what he did to my heart?"

"Of course not. But you still seem to love him after all and-"

"Neechan." Heiji has finally reached them and stared with impatience at the girls. Next to him was Shinichi and Kazuha knew that they were getting nowhere now.

Ran blushed when she saw her boyfriend approaching her with a rose and after he whispered something in her ear, she nodded. Before both of them left, she gave Kazuha an apologetic smile.

Great.

Now she was with him again.

She angrily turned to Heiji and hissed again: "You absolutely did this on purpose, am I right? We know that Ran and Kudou-kun are basically inseparable."

"Think what you want, but I might take this fact as an opportunity to talk with you. So, would you please let me?"

Kazuha groaned in annoyance.

"Fine. What do you want to tell me?"

"A lot, but mostly that I'm sorry for everything what happened between us. I need you to know that I have never intended to hurt you."

"Yet you did."

Heiji huffed in annoyance. Yes, Kazuha was aware that her current behaviour was childish, but she couldn't help to react to every letter he said.

It was just- he did hurt her heart. Even though he never cheated to her, the fact that he considered seeing other people and not defining their relationship gave her the impression that he didn't take it as serious as she did.

And yes, her heart was already forgiving him, it took sheer willpower to not wrap her arms around Heiji and snuggle him to death. She really wanted to be held by his arms, their lips should connect again and her body should heat up again.

But her mind was persistent, still not trusting the convincing words of him.

"Heiji", Kazuha started again, but got interrupted by a thunderous noise. Everyone, including them looked at the source and saw Shinichi and Ran behind the decorated christmas tree which they managed to make it fall over the huge sledge.

"Just what the hell did they do", Heiji commented in an amused tone, though he already knew the answer.

They could see the deep blush, swollen lips and messy clothes and hairs from their position. Kazuha sighed. Did they just really make out?

She also wondered where Sonoko and Masumi went. She hasn't seen them since they arrived at the latest party.

"Kazuha", Heiji started again, after paying attention to her again? "How can I make it up to you?"

Kazuha sighed again and shifted nervously, to avoid his intense stare.

"I don't know. It just that I really want to believe you, but these events-"

"I know", he interrupted. "I've done a major mistake and I can't undo it, but our separation has made me realise how much I want us to be an actual item. Because... I love you."

That's it. He had done it. Made the last doubts Kazuha had of him disappear with the last three words. She felt like she's going to faint any second.

Her heart was beating happily, she grew hot and her mind was already forgetting the negative things that happened between them.

Heiji had never say these words to her and judging by his face, he was absolutely sincere about it. Kazuha had to try to not freak out by his confession.

She calmly breathed in and out for a few times, before suddenly dragging Heiji in a crushing hug. He was confused, of course, but be quickly recovered and hugged her back.

"What does it mean?", He whispered in her ear.

"Tha-'" Kazuha began, before resting her hands around his neck and staring with full of feelings at him - that I believe you."

"Really?" Heiji started to beam, his eyes were practically sparking and his happiness made her feel giddy too.

Kazuha knew she was reacting kind of hazardous, because what if he's breaking her heart again? But another part of her shushed the doubtful thoughts away.

Heiji closed the small distance between them with a chaste kiss, which Kazuha gladly replied. She pressed herself against him and deepened the kiss.

When they parted for the first time, Heiji said: "There's no way I'm going to mess everything up. No worries, I'm not that stupid, Kazu."

Kazuha snickered, before leaving over for another smooch.

"I'll believe you."

And she kissed him again.

I love them so much, I want them to date finally. The recent chapter with them low-key pissed me off, because it's clear they have feelings for each other. Also, Kazu kinda deserves better sometimes, but I still like them.
