When Ran entered the small Café to purchase some cakes for her appointment with Shinichi, her attention immediately goes to the girl, who sat like a lone wolf at her place. Her eyes went to the clock every fifteen seconds, her fingers nervously tapped the table and her expression became sadder each second.

Ran also saw the other visitors whispering while looking at the unfamiliar girl and the waiter had a look of pity on her face. She felt her heart clinching and became angry.

Why was no one asking her what's wrong or offering some help? Why did it seem like they enjoyed seeing the misery of the girl?

Ran clenched her fist before grabbing her phone and quickly sending Shinichi the message that something urgent came up that lead her to cancel their appointment.

Then she put a big smile on her face and called out: "There you are! I am so sorry for being late. I hope you didn't wait for so long."

The girl raised her head in surprise and the other people stared at Ran in disbelief before finally minding their own business. Ran sat across from the girl, who seemed to understand what she just did right now.

"Who are you?", she asked silently. Ran noticed that she must be from the Kansai region. "But I have to thank you. Gettin these stares from these people was becomin' unbearable."

"They deserve a fist on their faces", Ran grumbled. Even if they weren't interested in helping the girl, the least they could go was to stop giving here these annoying stares.

"Does the rescuer also have a name?"

"Sure! Mouri Ran, but just call me Ran!"

"Nice to meet you! I'm Kazuha. Touyama Kazuha. I honestly cannot think about how I should give you my gratitude."

Ran shrugged. "No need to do that, Kazuha-chan. So, what happened that you looked this sad when I entered this location?"

Kazuha's expression became blank and she stared at her drink. Before Ran could say that it didn't matter whether she knew it or not, Kazuha replied: "I was supposed to meet someone here for a date but I guess I got stood up."

Ran slowly closed her eyes after hearing the explanation from her new companion. "Please tell me you're kidding, right?"

"Why else would everyone stare at me?" Kazuha gave the clock another glance and sighed. Ran was sure her heart arched in pain with her. How could someone cruel abandon this cute girl?

"That funny thing is that Heiji - my best friend - kept warning me abou' this guy, yet I didn't listen. I guess he was right. There's no possibility about him being late, so yeah, that's why I was sitting here all alone."

Ran stared at the girl's green eyes. They were a bit red, either she did cry before or she wanted to. Her outer appearance gave the impression that she was absolutely excited for the date. Kazuha wore a light blue dress which matched the cute ribbon in her hair.

"See it in that way", Ran murmured. "That bastard will soon realise his consequences. How can he dump someone precious like you?"

"You don't know me, so how can you say such stuff?"

"It doesn't matter, I think you seem so kind."

Kazuha smiled before tilting her head curiously.

"Wait. You probably had a reason for coming here. Please don't tell me I've disrupted your plans!"

Ran quickly shook her hands.

"No worries! I was supposed to buy some cake for my best friend and myself, but I've already told him that something urgent came up. Let me check his response."

Ran grabbed her phone which laid next to her drink and opened the recent message.

I'll forgive you if you bring me lemon pie the next time we'll see each other again.

"Of course", she grinned.

"Hm?" Kazuha raised her eyebrows. "Please don't tell me your best friend is enraged!"

"No worries, Kazuha-chan! He just said that I have to bring him lemon pie if we're seeing each other the next time. And if he would react differently, I just explain him what happened, so he can understand my reasoning."

"Oh, I see", Kazuha nodded. "Well, thank you. And for today. I may have been stood up by some asshole, but at least I made a new friend. Shall we exchange numbers, if you like?"

When Ran didn't respond right away, Kazuha blushed and quickly hide her face. "Oh my God, I didn't mean to sound so needy, but I thought that we could see each other again? I grew really comfortable around you in the past hour and-"

"There's no reason for you to freak out", Ran interject with a smirk. "But it's cute to see you doing it. I'd absolutely love to give you my number."

Kazuha sighed in relief and giggled happily. "Thank you!"

Ran smiled back at the adorable antics of her new made friend.
