Heiji and Kazuha were laying on his couch, a huge bag of popcorn between them and their eyes narrowed on the screen.
The childhood friends and secret crushes had finally managed to arrange a date. Previous tries had been interrupted by abnormal events as well as attempted confessions.
It was pretty much surprising for all the involved people when Heiji grew being sick of not being able to express his feelings and asked Kazuha out.
And because Kazuha was anxious about them tripping into a murder case while going out, she had insisted to watch a film at home.
There they are, laying on the couch and watch some film both of them weren't really fond of. But Heiji refused to watch something romantic and Kazuha didn't like detective film, so they had to combine both if them. A stupid decision.
"This is so boring!", Kazuha complained. "The girl clearly has the better detective skills, so why does she have to slow down so the boy looks good?"
"What do you know about having the better skills?", Heiji huffed back.
"Even a kid could clearly tell you who's having the superior detective skills! So deal with it!"
"Alright, alright." Heiji grabbed the remote to turn the film off, before resting his eyes on Kazuha. "What do you wanna watch then?"
"Something way better than this bullshit."
"Then choose the next film", he replied, rolling his eyes. Heiji didn't expect this atmosphere at all. Sure, they have similarities here and there, but how did they always manage to fight over something unimportant?
Kazuha grabbed without looking first the next dvd and pushed it inside. It was a dramatic documentary about lizards and snakes.
"Okay?", Heiji commented. "Do I want to know why you chose this?"
"Shut up! You did see how I was taking the one without looking! Or do you want to see a romantic comedy after all?"
"Alright, I'm excited for the documentary!"
And soon, both of them noticed that their documentary was way more thrilling than they had anticipated.
"Holy shit", Heiji choked while Kazuha held her breath. Just now there was an extremely dramatic scene where the lizard had to run away from several snakes and barely made it. Both Heiji and Kazuha let their bickering be and focused on the screen for the past minutes.
"To be honest, I really thought the lizard wouldn't manage it", Kazuha said after letting out a deep breath. "It was really a close call."
"I really don't want to see such a dramatic scene again, my heart can't take it", Heiji agreed.
It was silent for a brief moment, until Kazuha started again.
"You know... you can see this situation as a sign for-"
She didn't finish her sentence, making him more curious. "As a sign for what, Kazuha?"
She rested her eyes on the screen and watched how the lizard was peeling its skin off. Her hand was clutching on her chest as she continued: "Yeah, what if the lizard also had a significant other and couldn't manage to express their feelings and... oh, just forget it, I'm speaking nonsense!"
And of course she was blushing hard.
Heiji snickered. "I guess I understand what you mean. If the lizard couldn't mate and got eaten, their partner wouldn't know huh? And not it got a second chance. You're reading way too much into this situation, Kazuha."
Said person bit her lips. Of course he wouldn't read something symbolic into this scene like she did. Or get the subtle hint she made. But it was alright, she said to herself. Seemed like she needed to be more straightforward.
Heiji suddenly placed the bag with popcorn on the table and got closer to her. Kazuha felt like she stopped to breath.
"Let's settle this", he said with a faint smirk.
Without a warning, Heiji grabbed her head, closed his eyes and pressed his lips on hers.
Kazuha got over her initial shock quickly and reacted to the kiss by getting closer to him and placing her arms in his shoulders.
She felt like she's currently laying on bright, fluffy clouds. Well, Heiji touching her did feel like it, especially with his hands on her face. He slowly pushed Kazuha on the sofa and positioning himself above her.
When they parted their lips, Heiji said breathlessly: "This situation is what you wanted, right? Or more like, what we both wanted."
"So you did get my what I've been trying to say after all."
"Of course! I'm a great detective!"
Kazuha giggled, before she got captured by Heiji's lips again.

Honestly, I really don't like this chapter but I just wanted to post something. I'm currently having so many drafts right now, some of them are finished but I just don't like them. I feel like they're sometimes ooc or corny.
Also thank you to all the people who still read and vote my shitty content. o(>ω<)o
