Prince Heiji is finally in the suitable age to marry. But none of the potential brides are in any way appealing to him.
Heiji x Shinichi, platonic Heiji x Ran, one-sided Kazuha x Heiji, brief mentions of past Saguru x Heiji, platonic Shinichi x Kaito, a mention of possible Kazuha x Ran.
Warnings: grammar mistakes, some inaccuracies since I'm not familiar with the system, maybe some swearing, my bad attempt to write shounen-ai, mentions of sexual intercourse, the characters might be ooc, some parts are hella sappy and seem rushed.
Okay I originally wanted to post this on new years, but I couldn't make it. Also, that's my favourite chapter I've written so far.
I made Heizou way more nice and understanding than in canon lmao but that doesn't mean I condone his behaviour towards Heiji.
As mentioned in the warnings, this was also the most difficult one due to my lack of knowledge (says the one who was in history advance course lol) and the rushed parts (I could've developed that chapter into a real story, but I know myself. I wouldn't finish it, get a writers block, etc.) That's why I couldn't develop the relationship between Heiji and Shinichi and some events happened way too fast, you'll see it later on. I also hope I didn't make Heiji's character about just being gay. And since I'm a sappy person, I've made their romance fluffy in my opinion. You can decide whether I'm right or not.
It's also the longest chapter I've ever written, with more than 11k words.
So this is pretty long, have fun :D

"Son", his father began, as soon as Heiji entered the enormous hall. The pompous furnishing never ceased to amaze him. Everything was held in white, red and gold and the throne, where Heiji's father was currently sitting, shined in silver.
King Heizou was perched on his high seat, looking rather contented about something. Heiji hesitantly went over to him.
"You called?"
"There's something urgent we need to talk about. Make yourself comfortable."
Prince Heiji gave his father a confused stare before sitting across to him. Heizou now had a determined expression and Heiji knew he's not going to like the following words.
"Son, you've finally reached the perfect age to marry your future queen", Heizou began.
Oh yeah, he definitely didn't like it.
"What does that mean?", he asked back and tried to hide his annoyance.
"Your 21st birthday is approaching in two weeks and that's the age were the future heirs are usually going to marry a respectable woman. But you don't need to worry about searching one. I've already spoken with other residents and found a perfect princess, who is suitable as your wife. Also, you know her already, so we can skip the uncomfortable part of trying to get to know the other one better."
Awesome. Was he supposed to be grateful for not bearing any kind of awkwardness? Yes, Heiji was starting to hate it.
"I guess it's pretty nice you've taken the right to decide with whom I want to spend the rest of my life together but can I have a say in this?"
"Speak out, son."
"I really loathe your concept!" With that exclamation, he stood up and hastily left the room. Heiji ignored this father's yelling and went straight to his own room instead, locked the door and threw himself into his bed.
There was no way he will pursue this way. Not only was it way too old-fashioned, he was also pretty certain that the woman he should wed will live an unhappy life with him.
