Shinichi and Ran wait with their confession until the last possible moment.

The passengers were panicking. Running up and down, completely ignoring the orders to stay calm and silent and using their phones to make their last calls.

So many were already crying, others still had a slight faith in the current status and people just leaned over the big window to end it by themselves while others tried to prevent them from committing suicide.

And all of this tragedy happened because a enormous hole gaped on the roof of the plane.

Shinichi was in the middle of the drama, next to Ran and getting nervous. Was the current situation really leading to the end of their lifes or will he carry heavenly injuries, if they were to survive the collision?

His hands were shaking while he grabbed his phone, took the air mask off him and quickly called his mother. Unfortunately, she didn't pick up, meaning, her and his father were already on their way to pick them from the airport. As much as he disliked the thought, Shinichi had to speak on her voicemail.

"Hello mum, it's me Shinichi. You're probably wondering why I'm leaving you a voice message. The thing is, I have no choice. Our plane will probably not arrive its destination. We've collided with a huge storm and the modell was too old to handle it. Everyone is panicking right now which I can understand, I feel so useless right now. I wish there was something I can to to prevent the collision or to save some people. Anyway, I just wanted to inform you that we might be never see you again. And you and dad weren't as unlikeable as I made it seem. Love you."

Him and Ran were supposed to visit his parents in America, but in the middle of their flight, the roof just vanished and the fact, that a huge storm was also approaching, didn't help in the slightest. The plane wasn't allowed to fly in the first place and they're were the unfortunate passengers.

Now the plane was more or less flying but will definitely meet the ground in the harshest way possible.

He was already soaking in sweat while Ran had her eyes closed and panted heavenly. Her horrified expression was clearly visible through the gas mask she was wearing.

Even while being so close to death, she looked beautiful.

He had so many things to tell her.

Like so much. If he would let the last possibility go waste, he'll regret it forever. And even if they would survive the crash, Ran would know about his true feelings.

So Shinichi bit his lips, ignored the upcoming nervosity and drew his attention on the girl next to him.

"Ran, I-"

"Shinichi, I-"

He blinked in surprise when Ran had said his name at the same time. She also had a determined expression on her face and her eyes were already giving away about what she wanted to say.

"You start", Shinichi offered with a small smile. He could wait. If he managed to survive the years without telling Ran how he felt, a few more minutea wouldn't make a difference.

"Are you sure?", she asked back. After Shinichi nodded, she exhaled deeply and closed her eyes.

"Look, I know that we're in the most unfortunate situation right now. But if I don't open my heart, I might regret it. I don't even know how much time we have left."

"I'm guessing about five minutes, so ou better make it as short as possible."

"Okay, okay." She took a deep breath again and continued: "Long story short, I've liked you for a long time, but never had the courage to open up about my true feelings. It's just that you're a blessing. I love spending the days with you, even if it meant I have to watch you solving cases. But I never mind, you know? Because that's what you love to do. Being passionate about something is always appealing. And how can I forget about-"

"Okay, I have to stop you", Shinichi interjected with a serious expression.

"What? What's wrong with-"

Shinichi leaned himself over to Ran, grabbed her face with his hands and captured her lips. Ran was taken aback by the sudden action, but she decided to kiss him back.

Their kiss was filled with everything. Shinichi's heart was beating harshly as he clung desperately to Ran. She really reciprocated his feelings. She did and they were never going to experience the full essence of a relationship.

Hot tears were running on his face while he tried to not let her go. Sadly, the lack of oxygen made ihm retreat from Ran. When Shinichi opened his teary eyes, he noticed that she was crying as well.

"It's so unfair", she sobbed. "And why do we have to be hesitant and scared?"

"I can't answer these questions", he whispered. "The only thing we can do is to hope. Hope that we all might survive any of this. It's just too early."

Was it pathetic to be optimistic at this point? Or should they open their eyes and face the harsh truth?

Ran wiped her tears away, while she mumbled: "Just let me stay in your arms. I don't want to be separated from you."

"I gladly oblige that."

As soon as he wrapped his arms around Ran and kissed her again, the airplane started to rumble and increased its speed in an enormous way.

Both of them, and probably a lot of the other passengers, tried to blend the current situation out.

"It's happening", both of them whispered. They hold each other so tight, it started to hurt.

Are we going to survive the crash? Are we going to survive the crash? Are we going to survive the crash?

And then, were was a loud crash and a harsh pressure.

Omg.

I tried to look it up so I wouldn't mess it up but sadly, I didn't found that much.
You can decide for yourself whether they survived or not.

Plus, I realised I have so many ShinRan one shots in my drafts. Fluff and angst. They're not even my favourite couple, but the easiest to write (though I'm always worried about them being to ooc)

On another note: I am so happy that netflix adds more and more anime on their streaming service. I got introduced to many and I can rewatch shows I've watched a long time ago too!
