I didn't think of it much after. "Emma, where's that friend of yours?" my mom came in, noticing he wasn't here. "I don't know. One minute he was here and then the next, he was gone" I answered. "Ok, that's weird. But I came in to tell you that there are some kids in the front porch. They want to meet you" my mom seemed happy at the thought. Maybe because she wants me to make friends as soon as possible.

I nodded my head and stumbled my way outside, knocking over some boxes on my way.

"Hi! I'm Natalie, and this is Matt and Rebecca" a somewhat short, red headed girl said to me. Oh, I already met Matt. Rebecca, she had short blonde hair, and she was a little taller than me.

"Hey, I'm Emma" I replied. "We just want to say welcome to the neighborhood!" Natalie, was a bit annoying and squeaky.

"Thanks" I crossed my arms over my chest. "Where did ya come from?" Rebecca asked. "New Bedford" I said.

"That's so cool!" Natalie squealed. "Mhm" Matt rolled his eyes.

I ignored him and drifted my attention to my neighbors house. Which was Luke's house. Luke was standing on his front steps, not looking my direction. His face was towards the street.

Luke looked like he was in a deep thought. Soon after, Natalie snapped me out of my zone.

"Do you know him?" she asked, a bit intimidated. "Yeah, why?" I shot back. I could tell that Natalie and I weren't on the same page.

"Don't be friends with him. He is a freak" she shot back. Her personality quickly changed. "Well, we have to go, but we will meet up again. Byee!" she smiled as she turned on her heel and left with Matt and Rebecca.

I looked back over at Luke and he had his eyes already on mine.

I shook it off and walked back inside.

"What did they want?" my mom was always so happy. "They just wanted to welcome me to the neighborhood" I shot.

"Oh, well, that's nice" she trailed off to get some more boxes outside.

I rolled my eyes and gave up on helping with the boxes. I need a break. I walked up to my room.

I shoved my ear plugs in my ears and clicked shuffle. Immediately, my favorite song came on. A Little Bit of Your Heart by Ariana Grande.

I laid my back against the wall, sliding my back slowly down the wall.

Soon after, my bum was sat on the wooden floor again.

"Emma" my brother yelled from my door way. "What do you want?" I snapped.

"Luke is here" Luke came in from the door.

I quickly got up, I shouldn't have because my bum hurts really bad now.

"Hey, Luke" I smiled. "Hey Emma" he smiled. I liked his smile.

"What's up" I awkwardly said. "I'm sorry I walked out earlier"

"You walked out? What? I didn't no-yeah, I noticed" I sighed. "Yeah, sorry"

"Why did you? Were you too shy or something?" I asked.

"Y-Yeah, something like that"

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Sorry, it's just I don't really talk to girls"

"Kevin, out" I demanded. Kevin was still at the door way but after I demanded for him to leave, he was gone in a snap of a finger.

"Luke, it's fine. Listen, I'm like you. I don't really belong. I don't really have a lot of friends. I don't really talk to guys. So how about you can be my first friend here?" I asked, hoping he'll agree.

"Sure, it's a deal" A deal?.

I awkwardly smiled. "Yeah, a deal" I laughed.

"Well, friend, would you like me to show you around?" he asked, standing up. "Sure"

We walked out of the room and made our way outside. "Hey mom, Luke is going to show me around town. I'll be back" I caught her just before she went inside.

She nodded her head with a small smile and went inside. "Where do we go first?" I asked.

"Who's the tourist here? Me or you?" he joked. "Me" I rolled my eyes, playfully. "Then, follow me" I followed as we made it to the sidewalk.

"I bet your going to like it here. You'll meet new people, make new friends, and by this time next year, you will know this town like a map"

"I already like some things" I whispered to myself. "What was that?" he asked.

"Oh nothing" I lied.
