Chapter 24

Today, Luke and I are in Maine right now to get our little bundle of joy.

"Follow me to see your son" our agent chuckled, leading us to a small room full of clear bins of babies.

Our agent led us to the far back corner of the room and stopped.

"Here is your new son. What's his name?" the agent asked.

I looked up at Luke then to the baby, then to the agent.

"Matthew" I answered.

"Ok. Well, I'll be right back to take you to my office to fill out some papers.

He smiled very perky as he left.

"Matthew?" Luke asked. "Yeah. To dedicate Matt that died" I said.

"That's nice Emma" he said. "Thanks. Just being thoughtful" I said.

Luke smiled at me. "I can't believe, very soon, we will have this little bundle of joy in our arms, at home" I smiled down at Matthew as Luke said that.

"Yeah. I just can't wait" I sniffled.

Within an hour, all three of us were on our way home.

Every few seconds I would look back at Matthew, fast asleep.

"I can't believe this is happening" I whispered. "Me either" he said.

"Just think, last year, I just moved in to the neighborhood. Today, we have our own son" I said.

"Yeah. Your dad thinks that were too young. But your mom is so ecstatic about this" Luke said.

"Yeah. My father and I don't really get along" I admitted.

Luke didn't say anything.

After a long time of silence, Luke broke the silence.

"I love you" he said.

"I love you too. You and Matthew" I said.

"Thank you" he said.

"Thanks for what?" I asked.

"For being mine. For being here for me. For believing in me. For giving me a child. I just freaking love you Emma Diamond" he said.

"I love you so much Luke Hemmings" I started to tear up.

"I love you too" he chuckled.

"I am so happy that in a month, I will be Emma Hemmings" I told him.

"This might sound cheesy but I'm excited for you to be my family. Officially" he said.

"I'm really excited too" I answered.

"I love you Matthew!" I slightly yelled, not to wake him up.

I heard Matt moan. I smiled.

"I love you Matthew. I love you Luke" I said.

"I-"

I felt my world shut down in an instant.
