"Honey! Can you please get a box from the truck!" my moms voice echoed the new house.

I got up, off of my extremely hard wooden floor and made my way down the stairs.

"Hey, I'm Matt" a tall, boy stood in front of me. He has short brown hair, green eyes and he wore a football jersey.

"Hey, I'm Emma" I moved pass him. I never planned on making a boyfriend here. "Are you new to the neighborhood?" He asked. "Yeah, that's why there is a lot of boxes on the lawn" I sarcastically replied. Matt chuckled.

"Your funny, I like that" I turned to face him, and he was already checking me out, head to toe.

I rolled my eyes. "If your planning on flirting with the girl next door, don't even bother"

"Oh well then, your feisty. I'll see you around?" he was walking away already.

I rolled my eyes but soon bumped into someone else. "Sorry" a male voice spoke out.

I looked up to see another boy. He looked my age. He had dirty blonde hair, up in a quiff. Tall, with blue eyes. "I'm Luke" he smiled. Did I mention he was cute?

"I'm Emma, I just moved here" I backed up. "Oh yeah, I know, I came over here to see if you needed any help unpacking or anything" Luke scratched the back of his neck, still smiling.

"That would be great" I broke away and led him to the big truck. "Here" I handed him a big card board box.

"I'll take this one, follow me" I took another box and he followed me to my new two story house.

"Thanks" we placed down the boxes in the kitchen. "No problem. So how old are ya?" he asked. "17"

"Me too" he answered back. "Where did you come from?" He furrowed his eye brows. "New Bedford" I answered. "Oh, I heard that place wasn't as nice" he stated. "And you are correct, that's why I moved. How about you? Did you live here your whole life or what?" I asked.

"Well, I came here from Australia about 13 years old". "Australia? How is it there?" I asked.

"Pretty nice, I came here because my father got a job in the United States. So, he brought me along" he chuckled.

"Oh. Cool" I awkwardly replied. "Yeah"

There was a silence for a little while until my brother Kevin came in and ruined it. "Hey there, Emma, is this your boyfriend?" he teased. "No, I just met him Kevin. Your so immature"

I walked out of the kitchen, back outside. "Sorry about him" I told Luke. "It's alright. I know that siblings can be a bit, complicated. I wouldn't know for sure but my cousin had a brother and I knew how that must have been" he chuckled. "It's a real pain. You should be thankful you don't have siblings" I patted his back, walking to the big truck.

"Nah, I wish I had siblings because it gets really lonely in my room, or outside, or anywhere for a matter of fact. Sometimes I wish I had a twin"

I wish too.

"Oh" I sighed. "Well, how many friends do you have?" I asked. Wishing that I didn't say that. "None. Nobody really talks to me because they think I'm a trouble maker. Mostly because of the lip piercing" he pointed to his upper lip.

"Well, I'll be your friend. I don't mind it" I smiled. "Thanks"

"No problem"

"Honey-oh, is this a new friend?" she asked.

"Yeah, this is Luke. Luke, this is my mom" I introduced them.

They said their hellos and Luke and I went on with the boxes. "So, have a boyfriend back home?"

"Nah, a lot of guys just don't like me" I mumbled. "Why not? Your nice and funny as I can tell" he smirked.

"Thanks, but either the guys were taken or just never talked to me"

"Or maybe their scared" he mumbled.

"What do you mean? Scared of what?" I asked, putting a box in my arms.

"Scared of rejection"

"Rejection?"

"Yeah, maybe some liked you but were scared that you would reject them. You know, saving the embarrassment"

"Wow, I never thought of it like that before" I hummed.

"Any girls for you?" I asked. "Nope. Everyone says I'm mysterious" he answered.

"Are you?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Maybe, maybe not" he answered. "Your one strange Luke"

"I'm one of a kind" he answered from behind me. I walked ahead with a box in my arms.

As I set it down on the cold hard tile floor of the kitchen, I turned on my heel but Luke wasn't behind me.

"Luke?" I called out.

I got no response.

Luke is some weird dude. What was going on?
