Chapter Seven
Walking around the house, Hex found her way to the second story of the living room to find the children having a family meeting, and conversing rather loudly. She slowly walked around and listened.
Perhaps they were talking about Grace?
"Look, I know dad wasn't exactly an open book," Vanya shrugged, cutting Luther and Diego from starting another argument. "But I remember one thing he said."
"Mom was designed to be a caretaker," Vanya stated as Hex sighed and sat back. They were talking about this. It hadn't seemed like they had been talking long considering the video was still playing on the TV.
"But— always as a protector." Vanya seemed to look towards Diego.
"What does that mean?" Allison shook her head.
"She was programmed to intervene if someone's life was in jeopardy."
But she couldn't have known about the apocalypse? Could she? Grace was smart but Five barely had told Hex, led alone Grace. Come to think of it, I don't think Five told her before.
And if that was the case, why would she had killed just Hargreeves?
"Well, if her hardwired degrading then—" Luther stopped and looked to his siblings. "We need to turn her off-"
"Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah. Wait!" Diego hissed pointing a finger at his brother. "She's not just a vacuum cleaner you can just throw into the closet!"
Hex looked to her feet.
That's what it had to come to though, wasn't it? Shut off Grace before someone else got hurt. But sadly, everyone knew that it would hurt Diego. Seeing the way he looked at his mother, she was all he had. She had believed in him and everyone knew he got his strength from her.
"She feels things! I've seen it!" He hissed.
"She just stood there and watched our father die, Diego!" Luther barked.
"I'm with Luther," Allison perked as Hex rolled her eyes.
"Of course you are," Hex muttered to herself.
"Surprise Surprise," Diego groaned.
"Shut up," She retorted to her brother.
The team had now glanced to Vanya, who didn't seem too pleased with this conversation. Not how it was ending either.
"I-I don't-"
