Chapter Seventeen
Approaching the ice cream shop, Hex glanced to Klaus whom she hadn't seen this happy since they were kids.
She ordered her a one scoop vanilla as Klaus got a scoop of chocolate.
"Share?" He smirked as she nodded.
"Just like old times," she laughed handing him a spoon as he took off a small chunk off her ice cream as she did with his. He shook his head.
"Just like old times," he said as she went at sat down at a table. He sat next to her and looked to his hands.
"Are you really okay with the world ending?" She shrugged, "I-I mean, we'll die, Klaus-"
"We're going to die anyways," he shrugged.
"But not as soon if we did do something," she said as he sat back in his seat and shrugged.
"You really think that this is anything different?"
"Of course I do-"
"Then why are we looking for your family?"
"Whatever her name is must have a reason why she knows my name, perhaps something having to do with my family starts this apocalypse— maybe it's me."
Klaus chuckled, noticed the lack of joke in her sentence and furrowed his brow.
"Hex, you can't be serious, you?"
"I-I don't know, Klaus," she shrugged, "don't you think it's strange?"
"I think clowns are strange, this is just bizarre," he shrugged, "we only have three days?"
"Three days to find out who my family is," she said as he nodded.
"Where are we going to start?"
"Since you can't access my mother right now, the library has always been a great source for research," she said smiling at him as he nodded.
He took a spoonful of her ice cream and placed the spoon on his tongue.
"Reading?"
"Which I'll be doing most of," she shrugged taking a spoonful of his. He chuckled and nodded.
"Right you are," he said getting up and pointing a finger at her. She stood up and walked to the door, followed by Klaus.
"But what if this has nothing to do with the apocalypse?"
"Then we died trying," she muttered as he caresses her cheek. She looked to him and smiled softly, tearing away. She blushed and shook her head before making her way to the library, "we don't have time Klaus."
The smile still plastered on her face, she walked beside him holding her ice cream in front of her.
The two made their way to the library and to a microfilm. After what seemed hours of searching for anyone named Anderson, Klaus's snoring became too much to handle. Hex glanced over to him and to her hand before she flicked her hand as he picked his head up and hit it on the table. Shooting up he looked to her as she giggled.
