Jason Antonio Brash

"Hello?" I groaned answering the phone.

"Do me a favor?" I scrunched up my face hearing my dads voice boom through the phone.

I looked at the clock seeing it was almost four in the afternoon.

"What's that?"

"Pick up the twins from school and take them to Tavi's house." He said.

"They can't walk there? She live down the street."

"Do what I said Jason!" He shouted.

"Okay!" I hung up.

I tossed the covers over me and slid on my slides and grabbed my keys and my hoodie and slipped it on.

When I pulled up to the school, they both stood together but I seen this nigga talking to Elle.

I rolled the window down. "Aye, nigga."

Samari got in the car and Elle looked at me.

He leaned down to look in the car. "Wassup?"

"Nothing nigga, get yo hand from over my sister before you don't have one." I said.

He removed his hand from Elle's shoulder.

She smacked her lips.

"Get yo ass in the car, fuck you waiting on?" I said to her.

"I'll see you tomorrow Angelo." She said looking back at him.

He nodded. "Bye baby."

"Over my dead body, let me catch you around my sister nigga." I said.

He chuckled and shook his head walking off.

Elle huffed and settled in the backseat. I looked at her through the rear view mirror.

"The fuck you back there acting like the big bad wolf for?"

"You guys always do that." She said.

Samari looked back at her like, what the fuck?

"I'm yo' big brother, it's my Devine right to press niggas." I said to her.

"You're my brother, not my daddy." She snapped.

"Oh so you want me to call him? Because I will."

She peeped down and sighed.

"You hungry?" I asked both of them.

I knew Tavi ain't have no damn food in her house and I wasn't about to let my sisters starve over there.

"Uhh, yeah!" Samari laughed.

Elle just stayed quiet.

I rolled my eyes and drove towards Wendy's and got them some food. When we pulled in front of Tavi's apartment, I let them out.

They got out and grabbed their backpacks. I rolled the window down.

"Aye, y'all call mom when you get up there." Samari nodded.

Elle just walked up the stairs.

"Don't worry about her. That nigga got her head up his ass already." Samari said.

"I ain't worried about that." I shrugged.

"Love you, see you at dinner." She leaned in and kissed my cheek.

"Love you too."

I backed out of the driveway and watched as she walked upstairs into Tavi's house.

My phone rang in my pocket, I pulled it out seeing momma calling me.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey baby, did you take your sisters to your sister house?" She asked.

"Yeah, I just dropped them off momma."

"Okay, are you coming over for dinner tonight?"

"Yes ma'am, you know I never miss a meal." I said and she laughed.

"Believe me, I know."

I laughed.

"I'll be over there in a few minutes."

"Okay babe."

I hung up the phone and tossed it in my lap. I drove towards my moms house. When I pulled up, I parked in her driveway.

I got out, and walked up to her door and opened it.

Her house always smelled like lavender and vanilla.

"Mom!"

She popped her head out of the kitchen.

"Hey baby!" She smiled.

I smiled and walked over to her and kissed her cheek.

"I see you finally decided to come see me." She poked my cheek and then went back to the stove.

I looked, seeing that she was making breakfast.

"Mom, you know that ain't true. I was over here the other day." I looked at her.

"The other month." She sassed.

I smacked my lips. She laughed.

"How's everything?" She asked.

She fixed me a plate and handed it to me.

"Shits coo, I guess." I shrugged and bit into the sausage.

"You guess?" I nodded. "Why just that?"

I bit my bottom lip. I mean, shit was coo in my opinion. My job, my car, my apartment.

"I don't know, I got a bad feelin' that sum' gon happen."

"So what are you gonna do?" I sat down next to Tavi on the couch and shrugged.

"Well if this boy is your brother, than we need to find out why we're just now finding out about him." I said.

Since reading that letter, I've been trying to remain calm. But I can't.

I was told that, that baby wasn't Eric's. So who did he belong to? Who called me and told me that? What the fuck was going on?

"What's his name?" She asked.

"Angelo," I said. "He doesn't even have your fathers last name."

"What did daddy say?" She asked.

"Well since your dad used to date her, I sent him to find her and ask her what the fuck is going on."

"Haven't you seen her too?"

I nodded.

"She showed up at the sip N see when the Twins were just babies."

"I remember that!" She said loudly.

"I just don't want the twins to look at Sam any different." I said.

"Mom, he's been raising us since we were kids. They love him. We love him, everything's going to be fine."
