Toni Sanchez

"C'mon Ej, we gotta go or you're going to be late!" I shouted from the bottom of the stairs.

"I'm coming momma!" He groaned as he drug his basketball bag down the stairs.

"I got it man," My dad said coming over to him and taking it from him.

"Thanks grandpa." He smiled up at him.

"Go get your little brother and put him in his seat while I talk to your mom." I smiled at my dad as he slightly moved Ej towards the front door.

We watched as Ej helped Elijah into his car seat. Then he got in the truck and closed the door. Tavi, Gloria and Jupiter were already waiting for us.

I then turned to my dad and he smiled at me.

"How you feeling babygirl?" He asked grabbing Tyson from my arms.

"I'm okay daddy," I shrugged. "It is what it is."

"You still haven't talked to Eric?" He asked.

"No, it's hard to even think about him. It hurts so much." I said honestly.

"You're strong, I know you'll pull through this." I nodded.

"Sometimes I just-" I stopped myself when I felt my eyes start to burn. "I don't want to go there."

Here I go crying again, over this shit.

He reached and pulled me into his chest and wrapped his hanging arm around me.

"It's okay Toni, stop crying." He said. "This is just a test in your life, god is trying to see how strong you are."

"I know daddy, It's just- why did he do this to me? I have his kids! I'm his wife! I would've never done that to him!" I cried harder.

"Baby girl, you have got to move on from this. Don't let this break you! This is not going to break you! You have four kids, you're pregnant. Your kids need you to be strong. We need you to be strong."

"I thought we were okay." I looked up at him and wiped my eyes.

"He had us all fooled baby, just fooled." He said rubbing my back.

"But the only thing you can do is come back harder than ever, show him what he stepped out on." I nodded.

My dad was right, I needed to remember who I was before Eric. I had my own before him, my own car, my own house, and my own money.

If he wanted to leave, I would be straight any type of way. I needed to do what was best for me and my kids. Because at the end of the day, they need me.

"When's your next doctors appointment?" He asked me.

"In a week, it's my first check up." I said wiping my eyes.

"Look at my beautiful baby, so strong." I smiled and looked down at Tyson who looked up at me and gave me a toothless grin.
