"Can I have the macaroni and cheese, the chicken breast with rice and gravy and the waffle? With a side of mushrooms? And a sweet tea?" I asked the waiter.

In the corner of my eye I can see Sam looking at me like I was crazy.

I was just hungry.

"Would you like the mushrooms sautéed?"

I quickly nodded. "Yes please."

I smiled and handed him the menu.

I looked at him as he sat across from me, it was a Friday night and he had picked me up and we took a drive down to Long Beach and we decided that we wanted to go to Roscoes chicken and waffles.

He smirked at me before turning his attention to the waiter.

"And for you sir?"

"I'll have the Obama special, with a side of greens and a sunrise." He said closing his menu.

Why didn't I just get a meal instead of ordering different things? Wow I was flabbergasted.

"Okay, So I have a chicken breast with a order of rice and gravy and a side of Mac and cheese, one waffle and an Obama special with greens and a sunrise?" We both nodded. "Okay-"

I cut him off seeing one of the waiters walk by with peach cobbler.

"Can I get a side of peach cobbler too?"

Sam laughed.

The waiter nodded and wrote down my last option for my order.

"And a side of peach cobbler." He smiled.

I grinned as he walked away leaving me and Sam at the table alone finally.

"So," I smiled reaching over and grabbing his hand. "How was work?" I asked.

"It was coo'." He said licking his lips. "They still treating me like a rookie, like I'm incompetent of doing my job and shit but it's coo'." He shrugged.

I frowned.

"Why are they doing that?" I asked.

"I don't know mama, it's lowkey pissin' me off though." He said. "Like I've been at this damn precinct for a year and a half and they act like I came there two weeks ago."

Sam is a detective in the narcotics division and he transferred from New York to California when his last partner was murdered.

Since he's been here, the precinct he's been working at, has been treating him like he doesn't know what he's doing; having him file papers and shit.

"Calm down babe." I said intwining our fingers together.

"You right," he kissed my hand. "How my babies doing?"

"My? As in just yours?" I smiled teasing him.

"Well, they mine but they yours too-" he laughed. "They mine though."

I laughed.

"They're okay today," I said rubbing my belly with my other hand. "They kept me up all night."

"I couldn't tell," he smirked. "You look beautiful tonight."

I blushed and hid my face.

"Don't do that," He said. "I like seeing you blush."

"Stop Sam." I giggled.

"You know what I didn't get today?" He asked looking up at the ceiling.
