It's been two weeks since I last saw Skyler.

I felt so bad about what happened, but I just couldn't fully explain what had happened then. There was so much on my mind, so many expectations that I could fulfill.

It was Saturday morning.

I had woken up early, the sun had barely made its way out over the clouds.

Today I was gonna go over and apologize face to face to Skyler, tell her everything that had happened between Tate and I.

I got out of bed, walking down the stairs in my pajamas.

I stopped at the bottom step, being greeted by my mother and... Tate's mom drinking coffee on the couch.

"Oh! Good morning, Bug!" My mother smiled at me.

"Good morning?" I replied, confused as to what Tate's mother was doing in my house at 6AM.

"You've met, Constance, right? She's our neighbor, her son is Tate; you guys go to school together." She introduced us.

"Oh yes, Renee, Sage and I have met once or twice." Tate's mother smiled at me, taking a sip of her coffee.

"Good morning, Mrs.Langdon." I greeted, still not fully sure what's going on.

"Constance was just telling me that Skyler and Tate are dating!" She said.

I felt my heart snap.

"It was quite a surprise to me as well," Constance said, reading my expression. "I was just telling your mother that I was sitting here thinking you were dating Tate, but I was delightfully surprised to learn that in fact you're dating that handsome young man, Matty." Constance explained.

"Oh! Wait! Wasn't Tate that young man you met at that party a couple months back?" My mother asked, taking a sip of her coffee.

I nodded carefully.

My mother had just made a new friend, someone she could gossip with and spend time with when I was gone. I was happy for her... but her new friend just so happened to be the mother of the boy who I fell in love with and got heartbroken over all in a twenty four hour span of time.

"He's definitely a handsome young man as well." My mother added, winking at Constance.

Constance smiled, "Oh Renee, stop!"

My mother smiled. "So! What's on the agenda for today, bug?" She asked me.

"Probably going to just hang out with Skyler." I answered.

"Oooooh! Girl time!" My mother shimmied in her seat.

"No better time than girl time." Constance added.

"Well... I think I'm going to head out now." I said, taking the last step off the stairs and walking to the door.

"She's absolutely gorgeous, Renee." I heard Constance say to my mother as I walked towards the door.

"Isn't she though? I owe that girl my life." My mother added as I opened the door, stepping out into the world.

I made my way out and down the front steps, mentally preparing the speech I would give to Skyler once I saw her.

I made my way up to her house, and before I could even knock on the door it opened.

I opened my mouth to speak, stopping in my tracks in the middle of the street, watching as Skyler stepped out with Tate following closely behind.

I felt my stomach fall, watching as she turned to grab his hand. The smile on her face was unlike any I've ever seen her hold before.

Tate's happy expression fell when his eyes met mine.
