(TRIGGER WARNING)

I sighed, turning over on Sage's bed to look at her alarm clock; Two A.M. and she still wasn't home.

Where could she have gone? I know she'd been looking forward to going out and all, but I didn't expect her to be gone this long. Maybe I should've gone with her...

Fuck I hope she's okay. What if something happened to her? I'd never forgive myself if someth-

The sound of a roaring motorcycle engine stopped outside the house, puttering until it shut off.

My eyes grew wide as I threw the comforter off of my body, getting out of bed and walking towards the window to peek out.

My heart sank when I saw Sage sliding off the back of Matty's motorcycle, standing beside it waiting for Matty to get off.

I wanted to turn away, but I couldn't. My eyes were glued to them as Matty got off his motorcycle, running his fingers through his hair in a sensual way as he gave Sage a small smile.

The sound of my heart cracking echoed throughout the room as I watched Sage wrap her arms around Matty's waist; Matty wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling Sage closer to his body before kissing the top of her head.

I clenched my fist, wanting to jump through the window and smash Matty's smug face against the pavement.

I knew Sage and Matty had become friends again, but the sight of them together like that made my skin burn from the intense boiling of the blood that ran through my veins.

I jumped back into the bed when I saw Sage turn away from him, making her way towards the door. I didn't want her to think that I had been up worrying about her the entire time. I didn't want her to think I didn't trust her because I did. I trusted her more than I've trusted anybody. She knew things about me, seen things in me no one else has. I loved her.

I scrambled to throw the comforter over my body before tightly closing my eyes.

I tried to slow my rapidly beating heart when I heard her open and then gently close the front door. I struggled to calm my breathing, pretending to be asleep when I heard her footsteps coming up the stairs.

I let a fake snore slip past my lips when Sage opened her bedroom door, shutting it as carefully as she could so she wound't wake me.

I did my best not to flinch when I felt the back of her hand gently caress my cheek.

"Tate." Sage whispered. "Tate, I'm home."

I opened my eyes slowly, trying my best to act like I had just woken up. "Oh." I smiled "sleepily" up at her, "How was your night?"

She nodded, "It was eventful." She said with a small laugh.

"How so?" I asked, squinting so my lie would appear more believable.

Sage bit her bottom lip, her eyes shifting away from me.

I could tell there was something bothering her, something she didn't want to tell me; or maybe something she didn't want to admit.

"Sage?" I spoke softly, my hand reaching up to grab her arm and pull her attention back to me.

She winced, pulling her arm back slightly. I gave her a confused look; I wasn't going to hurt her, she knew me better than that and yet she held a pained expression on her face.

"Sage, is everything okay?" I asked, pulling my hand back in worry of scaring her.

"Tate, there's some things I haven't told you." Sage said in a low tone, her eyes falling to look at her lap. "Some things I haven't been honest about with anyone, not even myself until earlier tonight with Matty."
