I sat in amazement as I watched Sage and Adelaide bond.

Sage never missed a beat when she talked with her. They talked about every and anything, giggling at jokes and just smiling at one another.

I hadn't seen Addie in so long; it felt amazing having her here.

I couldn't help but just smile and listen to them go back and forth in conversation. I don't remember the last time I was truly this happy.

"Hey, Tate?" Addie spoke, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Hmm?" I hummed in response, a smile still plastered on my face.

"Do you think maybe, Sage could spend the night?" She asked, a childlike grin on her face as she looked at me with hope in her eyes.

"Oh uh, I dunno Addie... that's up to Sage I suppose." I answered her.

She turned to look at Sage who laughed.

"I would absolutely love to spend the night, Addie." Sage said, giving me a sly wink.

Addie cheered happily, clapping her hands. "Okay! I'll be back in a little bit, alright? Please don't leave." Addie said.

"I won't go anywhere." Sage promised her.

Addie beamed before vanishing.

"She's adorable." Sage said to me with a smile.

I nodded, "She is."

While waiting for Addie to return, Sage and I sat in my room.

We sat facing each other on my bed, our legs criss crossed as we laughed about random things.

"Sometimes I think we knew each other in a past life." Sage said amidst her laughter, a huge smile on her face. "Like we got along so fast y'know? I've never felt so connected with another person like I do you."

"I get what you mean." I agreed. "I always felt like I knew you from somewhere when we were kids. I was always so drawn to you." I admitted.

"If we did know each other in a past life I wonder what happened." Sage said, falling back onto my bed, staring up at the ceiling.

"Maybe we were lovers?" I suggested, falling back beside her.

"Oooooh! Okay! I like that." She said, turning her head to face me. "I've read about people knowing each other in past lives and feeling bonded to them for different reasons." She explained, "Some are very protective of others because they were related, and one died a horrible death. So now in this current life they're just friends, but one feels the constant need to protect them from harm."

I sat, thinking about it. It felt deeper than that to me. I can remember back when I first saw her, somehow just knowing she was the one. It was as if it was an awakening, like my wandering soul had finally found the person I had been searching an eternity for.

"I don't think we were ever related." I laughed.

"Okay, well maybe in our past lives our roles were reversed." She said, a smirk growing on her lips.

"How so?" I asked curiously, rolling onto my side to face her more directly.

"Well maybe I was the guy and you were the girl." She tried to maintain a serious face; losing it instantly in a fit of laughter.

"Probable." I laughed, "But doesn't feel likely."

"Okay, then what do you think our dramatic love story was?" She asked, rolling over onto her side.
