It was three days until prom.
To say I was nervous was an understatement. The very thought of it made my heart skip beats and my hands to become sweaty.
Today Sage and I were going over to meet Skyler's girlfriend, Cambrie. We were both excited. We had been talking to Skyler about it all week long and the time had finally come.
I was standing outside Sage's door having just knocked; waiting for her to answer so we could go across the street to Skyler's house.
"Ew what are you doing her?" Sage faked disgust as she opened the door.
I smiled noticing that she was wearing my long dark brown knit sweater over a grey tank top and high waisted shorts. On me, the sweater hit me about mid thigh, but on Sage it hung down to her knees with the sleeves way too long for her little arms.
"I was just wondering the exact same thing."
She smiled wide as she threw her arms around my neck, pulling me down for a hug.
"Hi babe." She giggled before pecking my lips.
"Hi, cutie." I smiled, wrapping my arms around her waist as I kissed her forehead.
"Kiss." She pouted up at me, her bottom lip protruding outwards.
"You already got one." I chuckled at her childlike behavior.
"Only because I stole one!" She argued.
I sighed, pecking her lips twice. "There. Now you've had three."
"Yay!" She cheered, releasing me.
I shook my head as I unraveled my arms from around her.
As we made our way across her yard our hands met instinctively, fingers lacing together.
"Are you excited to meet, Cambrie?" I asked as we made our way across the street.
"Super excited!" Sage beamed, "She means the world to, Skyler, so I'm super excited to get to know her."
I nodded in agreement as we made our way up to the door.
"Care to do the honor?" I motioned to the door, allowing her to knock.
We stepped back, waiting for the door to open, our hands still held firmly against one anothers, neither of us daring to let go.
I could feel Sage resist the urge to squeal as Skyler opened the door.
"Hey guys." Skyler greeted us with an enormous grin.
"Is she here?" Sage asked, bouncing up and down in excitement.
Skyler nodded, stepping aside to let us in.
Sage practically dragged me in behind her as she bolted eagerly into the house.
Once inside, Sage skidded to a halt, causing me to almost knock her over, losing my balance at the sudden stop.
That's when I saw a girl sitting on the couch, pitch black hair that seemed to curl delicately towards the end, covering the side of her face.
She was wearing a pastel pink loose turtleneck sweater that had two thick black stripes on her forearm underneath a light wash overall dress. She had knee thigh high black socks and pastel pink heeled combat boots, which I think Sage told me were actually called "booties" for some reason completely unknown to me.
She skin was mildly tan, not completely pale but not what I would consider tan like Skyler either. She seemed to be Skylers complete opposite.
"Cambrie?" Skyler spoke, getting the girls attention.
