~~Gelotophobia~~

~~1. The irrational or intense fear of being laughed at~~

"Look at me!" You turned your head to look at Katsuki, he was standing on a swing in motion, and in one swift movement, he jumped and landed on his feet.

"Wow, you are so cool Kaski-Chan!" You called out to him. He stood up and pumped his fist in the air to mimic the hero All might. His friends who stood and sat around you on the playset were all clapping and cheering for their brave friend. Without a moment's hesitation, you all were rushing off the playground to line up and have a try. As you were climbing down the stairs, you tripped on the last step and fell face first on the scratchy woodchips. In pain and expectation that they would be rushing to your aid, you laid there unable to get up from the shock. Instead, you felt more pain in your heart from the sounds you heard. You sat up, swiping the wood from their bright red imprints on your face and saw the laughing faces of the boys, including Katsuki.

"Hey, stop that, that isn't very nice!" Your protests were just met with rebuttals of "don't be such a whimp" and "you're fine".

"I'll show you all!" you got up, pushed all the boys out of the way and clambered onto the swing. You sat at first, kicking your legs to make your momentum carry you higher and higher. Soon you were at the same height that Katsuki was. Carefully, you stood up and clasped tightly to the thick metal chains as you prepared to jump.

"Are you going to go?" Katsuki yelled.

"Of course! Right now!" You leapt through the air and for a moment, you felt just as cool as Katsuki. But one thing you hadn't prepared for was how to land your dismount. The ground hurtled menacingly fast at you and you began to scream as your legs locked and the force of your tiny body hitting the ground at a high speed twisted your ankles. Once again you expected the help of your friends, and again, you were met with their ridicule.

"Wow she's weak." Ouch, that stung more than the pain in your feet. Standing up shakily, you pumped your fist up in the air, but it was accompanied by scoffs.

"You're a girl, a weak girl can't be All Might!"

"I am not weak!" in that one single moment, your life changed forever. You were so filled with rage and sadness at that point that your body couldn't take it, and your quirk manifested, "Shut up!" You waved your hands out and a wave of white energy was sucked into your hands. Immediately your head was ringing, ears bleeding, and body shaking. You turned to your friends for help, they were obviously trying to talk but they were silent. Their mouths moved, but no sound came out.

"Help me!" you cried, "Make it stop!" you waved your arms again, and another wave of white energy came and went, but this time it left you and made beelines for your friends throats. Then yelling and screaming erupted from their mouths.

"What was that Y/n?" One of them berated.

"I-I-I don't know." They all backed up slightly at your fierce display of your quirk, which you hadn't had till two seconds ago. To protect your friends, and find out exactly what was going on, you turned to hobble away. You never went back to the park ever again, you never tried to see Katsuki again. When he came to your house to try and talk, you did not let him in. If your mother answered you told her to not let him in. You isolated yourself, you became alone.

You spent years training your quirk so that you would never scare somebody like that again. When you and your parents went to the doctor to have your quirk tested to figure out exactly what the properties of it were, the doctors weren't surprised to find that you had some sort of sound/telekinesis quirk. Your dad had telekinesis and your mother had a quirk called mute that allowed her to talk to someone and once they replied to her, she could control the volume that they spoke at. In the ten years that you spent training your quirk, the power you possessed grew exponentially in potency. You never lost your zest for life, even though you grew up with no friends, rather choosing to spend time training and writing stories. In fact, your amiability and charisma were the final factors that pushed teachers into accepting you into Class 1-A from some of the other candidates.
