Look at that! I updated twice in a month! I'm doing a quick return to my traditionally shorter ones as an experiment.

I see this life
Like a swinging vine

"And then I managed to jump across the roof and save the family who was stranded just as the building was about to collapse. Turns out the guy was the owner of that new, really fancy restaurant on the corner of Hoth and Bespin and he gave me a voucher for a free dinner for two." Animated gesticulated punctuated each phrase as the two of you crested the hill that you had trekked up for a picnic. Denki was looking half-interested, but it was obvious that the majority of his attention was elsewhere.

"Babe, we're here." You quieted your voice and gently laid your hand on the one that he had tightly wrapped around the wicker basket with your food. He shook himself out of a daze and put on that classic Denki smile that charmed so many.

"Sorry, I was just tired from work today." He knelt on the grass and began to unpack the contents on top of the blanket that you had set down moments before. Immediately you felt a pang of regret. You were the one who had finagled this date on him right when he got home. He hadn't even had a chance to take his shoes off.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to drag you out here and make you even more tired. I was just really excited for the meteor shower tonight. We can head back if you want to." You really didn't want to leave, but now that you two were engaged, you had to start working as a team, a pair, an unbreakable force. That meant, if you needed to, driving your exhausted fiancée home so that he wouldn't fall asleep at the wheel.

"No, no, not at all! I am excited and really thankful that you planned a date to surprise me with. Like I said, I'm tired and just really stressed."

Swing my heart across the line
In my faces flashing signs
Seek it out and ye shall find

He was peeling an orange as you analyzed him. His face did seem rather pale, he had dark circles under his eyes, and he was starting to have a breakout next to his sideburns, the hallmarks of really bad stress. His eyes were sullen and the moment he wasn't speaking, he looked dead inside; he looked like a shell of the extraverted prankster you fell in love with. The one you said yes to.

"What's got you stressed? Is anything in particular." He looked up and stared at your spherical blanket form that sat opposite him on the blanket and gave a little chuckle before looking up and unconsciously fiddling with his ring. He paused for a moment, and without looking you in the eye, responded,

"Nope, not that I can think of, just really busy." He looked back down at his sandwich, not making any motion to acknowledge you.

The old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
I'm just doing what we're told

Denki never lied to you. That wasn't his modus operate, he was honest and kind, and would never withhold something from you. The fact that he couldn't even look at you, combined with his sketchy answers, and stressed appearance, you gleaned that something was going on that he couldn't shake. You knew you had to do something; so, you unwrapped yourself and scooted next to him where you laid your head on his shoulder.

"Alright, tell me what's going on babe. You aren't yourself. I've seen you happy, I've seen you sad, I've seen you tired, this is not you." He sighed and you could feel his previously straight posture concave and allow him to rest his head on your own.

"You know me so well. Do you know why I first fell in love with you Y/n?" Your heart was racing. Joy was making it go faster, anxiety made it even faster.
