Chapter 5

~Matt's POV~

Today is the day that people will see me differently. I jumped out of bed, grabbed my clothes, and do my morning bathroom routine. I dried myself off, and put on a gray plaid shirt and a khaki pants. I grabbed my hair product from the cabinet and spike up my hair until I'm satisfied about it, after I did my hair I put on a red beanie on top of my head. I head outside the bathroom and I saw my parents were about to go outside to drive to their job but they saw me and they were shock.

"Honey, you look so different," my mom said, pulling me for a hug.

"Now that my boy is growing," my dad said as I pulled away from the hug. "You can take the truck."

"Really?" I said, surprised.

He nodded and he handed me the car keys. I grabbed an apple from the kitchen then head outside to the truck and drive to pick up Mae for school. But before I could start the engine, my phone rang, and I looked at the caller ID and decided to answer it.

Matt: Hey Mae! What's up?

Mae: Hey! Umm I don't think I'm going to school today.

Matt: What? Why not? This is the day that I needed you the most.

Mae: I know Matt. But I'm just not feeling too good.

Matt: Then if you're not going to school today, I'm not going.

Mae: No Matt, don't miss school just because of me. You can do it yourself and Emma will be there by your side.

Matt: But it wouldn't be the same without you.

Mae: I know you can go on a day without me, Matt. I'll talk to you later.

Matt: Fine, I'll talk to you later, bye.

Mae: Good luck, bye.

I hang up and I was in shock. I can't believe that Mae wouldn't be there on my first day of school that I'm different. If she thinks that I can go without her for a day, I think I'll try to go. I started the engine, and drove up to school while jamming to the whole 5SOS album that Mae put in.

**After School**

~Matt's POV~

Today's school was amazing. Nobody bullied me, many girls think that I'm cute even Madison. Nobody realized that I'm the nerd kid that they were just bullying a week ago. But I'm still sad that Mae wasn't there to sea all of it. I just dropped Emma off to her farm because the busses our canceled from school and now I'm on my way to Mae's house. I knocked on their front door and her father opened it. He opened the door wider to let me inside of their house, I saw her mom sad.

"Mae's upstairs," her dad said to me, angrily.

I nodded, and head up to her room. I was about to knock on her door when I heard her yell.

"NO, SHE DOESN'T LOVE YOU. SHE'S JUST GONNA CHEAT YOU."

I heard her sob and that's when I know that she was crying. I entered her room without knocking and I saw her head on the pillow, bawling her eyes out. I sat down next to her and she sit up.

"Why are you crying?" I asked, worriedly.

"I don't want to talk about it," she cried as she sat up on the bed.

I put both of my thumbs on her cheeks and started moving it back and forth. I was wiping her tears out of her eyes and then she quickly leaned in for a hug. I hugged back and she cried even more. I rubbed her back up and down until she was calm enough to talk. She pulled away from the hug and I again wiped her tears.
