I crossed the police yellow tape line and look for Matt and his family. I kept looking around then I finally spotted him. I ran up to him and hugged him from behind. He turned around to face me and he hugged back. We kept it that way for about a long 2 minutes.
"I'm glad you're alright," I said, with a relief sound on my voice at his chest.
"I'm fine, thank you," he said back, hugging me even tighter.
I pulled away from our hug to see Matt's family finally outside the house. But there's one member of the family that weren't with them.
"Is your dad still at work?" I asked worriedly.
He shook his head no and I saw a tear drop in his eyes. I hugged him really tight again to make him a little bit calmer but he cried even more.
"They'll get him out, I promised," I said to him.
I pulled away, went on my tiptoes and wipe his tears. While I was wiping the tears out of his eyes, I caught Matt looking straight at me.
"Is there something on my face?" I asked as I get really self-conscious about myself.
"Nothing, you're just really beautiful," he replied, looking down at the ground.
"That is such a really bad timing," I laughed a little bit.
As we finished talking, I saw someone came out of the house in the corner of my eyes. I turned around away from Matt and I saw a fireman carrying a human body. The fireman dragged the man in the paramedics to see if his alright. Matt's family and I ran to the paramedics truck to see Matt's father lying down at an ambulance stretcher with his face burned a little bit. The burn on his face and body is not that bad, you can still see his whole face without thinking who actually the guy was. They got him inside the ambulance and ask us who will be coming with him at the hospital and Matt's mom volunteered while she's crying. They left the block and I heard sobbing. I looked at everyone beside me and all of the Espinosa family are crying. I mean who wouldn't be. I gave them all a group hug and thank god they calmed down a little bit.
"You guys can stay at my house for a while," I suggested.
"Are you sure?" Matt's sister, Kristen, asked.
"Yeah I'm sure," I smiled. "Stay as long as you want."
Kristen gave me a tight hug and I hugged back. My mom and my dad then came at us and told us that we needed to go home because it's getting really late and we have school to go to tomorrow. We started walking to my house and Matt was shaking really bad and he kept looking around at his surroundings.
"Matt, your dad will be fine," I said as confident as I can be.
"I know he is," he replied, while he keeps looking around the road.
"Then what are you so annoyed about something right now?" I asked once again.
And now I'm joining Matt at looking around our neighborhood.
"Remember when I told you that my parents were fighting this Sunday?" he asked, I nodded yes and he continued talking. "Well, after I dropped you off at your house at Saturday night, I got a death threat in front of the door. And I also got one tonight."
"Matt," I shouted at him, turning to him. "Why didn't you tell me? You could've gotten hurt really bad and probably even die. I can't lose another friend of mine."
~Matt's POV~
After I told Mae about the death threats that I've been getting, she started freaking out. She said that she can't lose another friend of hers.
