~Matt's POV~
Today's school day had been really fun for me today but Mae is really having a hard time moving on from Adrian. I tried to catch up with her when she ran away from science class today but these girls can't get their hands off of me. It's getting really annoying. I promised Mae that I wouldn't leave her side and now I feel so bad that I wasn't there for her when she really needed someone.
Maybe she's right. Maybe I wouldn't get too much time to hang out with her after this, but I'll keep our friendship going because breaking my promise is the last thing I want to do to make her sad. Maybe it will be better if I become a nerd again so these girls will get their hands off me and Mae and I will have more time to hang out with each other. But I've always wanted to change my looks since I started high school because I want to make a difference.
I'll do my best to hang out with Mae and Emma as best as I can. I wouldn't let anyone or anything ruin our friendship.
I'm now driving to Mae's house to see if she's feeling alright. I haven't seen her since this morning. I knocked on their door but Mae didn't open it. Emma did.
"Hi Matt," she greeted me. She opened the door wider to let me in.
"Hi. Where's Mae?" I asked, as I looked around the whole house.
"She's getting ready," she replied. I gave her a confused look and she understands. "We're having a girl's night out. She needs to freshen up her brain from everything that has happened today."
I nodded and ask, "Can I come?"
"Well, you're not a girl," she laughed.
"We can have a friend's night out," I suggested. "I don't want to be left alone."
"You have to ask Mae about that," she said.
She finally came down the stairs and she looked beautiful as always. I smiled at her and she smiled back. Or I think it's a fake smile.
"Hey Mae," I said as I pulled her for a hug.
"Hey," she said as she pulled away from the hug. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to see if you're alright," I replied to her question. "And I also wanted to hang out with you guys."
She looked at Emma and then looks back at me.
"Matt, we'd love to hang out with you too but Emma and I haven't hanged out for a week," she said, sadly.
"Oh okay, have fun. See you guys later," I said, wistfully. I started walking straight to the door and walked outside but before I could close the door behind me, Mae said, "Matt I'm really sorry."
"It's okay, you two have fun," I smiled.
I walked outside and get in the truck. As I reached my house and get out of the truck, I saw a paper close to the door. I picked it up and read it, it says: I told you to back off but I guess you didn't listen to me. You need to watch your back, nerd!
I got another scary threat. Who could this person be? My heart is now beating as fast as it could and I don't think its normal.
Remember when I was sad and worried this Sunday, it's because I got my first death threat the night after I dropped Mae off their house. Should I tell Mae? Should I tell anyone? I looked around the street to see if anyone is spying on me but I don't see anyone. I quickly got inside the house and went to my room. I lay on my bed to think who could this person be but while I was thinking, I nervously went to sleep.
~Mae's POV~
Tonight should be fun. Emma and I are going to the mall and go to a spa and go shopping. Emma said that body massage and shopping will help me freshen up my brain. Matt came to my house and he asked me if he wanted to come. I said no because Emma and I needed some girls night because we haven't done it yet for a month. I felt my heart stopped when I saw him so sad when I disagree to his decision.I felt so heart broken. Emma and I are on our way to the mall and we decided to go shopping first. We both walked to Ardene's first, then Forever 21, then Stitches, and a lot more. I ended up having 7 huge shopping bags from different stores and Emma ended up having 8 huge shopping bags. After we finished clothes shopping, we went to eat on the food court. After we ate, we went to the spa massage treatment, lying down on the spa bed. As the lady passionately massages my back, I was thinking about how Matt would probably feel right now. If I was in his position and I just got rejected, I would feel bad. I decided to take anyone and anything off my mind and just relax. As we finished, we got dressed and head outside the mall.
"That was amazing," I said.
"Tell me about it," Emma agreed.
We got into a cab and the driver drove us off our houses. While, Emma and I were talking about how amazing this night is, i felt a really weird feeling inside my stomach. I ignored that weird feeling and the driver finally reached Emma's farm. She got off the cab and say our good bye's to each other. As we drove off to my house, I got a phone call. I looked at the caller ID, press the green button that reads accept and put the phone beside my ears.
Mae: Hey, mom. What's up?
Mom: Where are you? You need to come home now. There's an emergency.
Mae: I'm almost at home. Why? What happen?
Mom: I'll tell you everything later. Just come to Matt's house.
Mae: Ok, bye.
And with that, I hang up. What's happening? Why is my mom so worried? As I get so many thought about this situation, I became too nervous and really worried. I told the driver to drive as fast as he could without him getting a speed limit ticket. We finally reached my block and I already got my attention to the huge smoke on the other block. I got off the taxi, paid him, drop all my shopping bags in front of the door and ran up to where the smoke is coming from. As I reached the crowded people, I ran quickly in front of everybody to see that Matthew's house is on fire.
