~Matt's POV~
"You can use my dad's old once," Mae suggested as she pulled the football equipment out of her equipment room.
After that fire the other day, mostly all of our stuff was gone. Some of them were burnt. But my parents saved some of their clothes, the money, our birth certificate and our passports. I never gotteb the chance to grab my stuff because my mom told us to go outside quickly. Right now, we were looking for football equipment that fitted me perfectly so I can use it during the football tryout.
"Go try it out in the bathroom," she requested and handed me the equipment. "If it doesn't fit just tell me and we'll look for a perfect one."
I grabbed the equipment out of her hands and head inside of the bathroom. I tried it on but it's too big for me. I quickly took it off and outside the bathroom I go.
"It's a bit big," I said to her.
She grabbed the equipment out of my hands and placed it to where it was before. She pulled out another set of equipment and handed it to me.
"Is this your dads?" I ask.
"No, it's my brother's," she replied as she closed the door of the equipment door.
"Wait, you have a brother?" I curiously asked. "You told me that you're the only child?"
"I do have a brother," she responded with a frown on her face. "I was just afraid to tell you because that was the first time we met."
"If you don't mind me asking, where is he?" I asked while I grabbed her hand and walked to the edge of her bed.
"His upstairs, working," she replied, smiling lightly.
She looked down to her hands and I put my arms around her.
"What's his work?" I asked.
She took a deep breath and replied. "His been working as an angel for 3 years. He hasn't visited me since 2 years ago but he promised me that he'll visit me some day again. And I couldn't wait to see him again after long years of waiting."
"I'm so sorry," I whimpered as I hug her tighter.
She looked at me and smiled.
"Don't be," she smiled. "It's not your fault."
"I know, I thought you might need it," I smiled back and she shrugged. "Can you tell me what happened?"
She nodded her head and took another deep breath.
"Mark was about 14 or 15 when the accident happened," she started. "He was a very happy, lovable, and a helpful brother. His been helping me throughout my life but he hasn't been helping himself. 4 years before he died, people in his school began bullying him. No one knew why they started bullying him. It just happened. A year before he passed away, he told me that people in his school started bullying him. He said that he cuts himself every day after school. I told him to stop cutting himself and just ignore the bullies. He tried, but it just keeps getting worse. And after those 4 years of him being depressed and sad, he went to his bathroom one night and com..."
"You don't have to say it if you don't want to, Mae," I suggested as she started crying.
"I want to say it," she slightly shouted. "Everytime I said those words, I started to cry. I want to move on and I know that he wants me too. I want to say the words without going to my room and cry all day. Matt, it's been 3 fucking years and I still can't move on. I can't even go to his room. I can't even look at our picture together without breaking down, because it hurts so much to know that the person you love and cares the most in this world is gone and you can never see them again. It hurts to know that he was there for me all day long and I wasn't there to support him, to help him through his problems."
