Dad Meet Disappointment

"Hey... I- I saw it on the news what's happening?" Barry said aloud as he approached Joe standing over the covered up body taking notes. "Someone killed this woman because she was a meta human.... she was just walking down the streets with her kid and all of a sudden she gets stabbed.." Barry glares into the distance then he crouched down and slowly uncovered the body.

A shuddering gasp escaped his lips, the body was a normal dark skinned woman, her Curly black hair was wild and all over the place. Barry reaches up and Joe handed him a blue rubber glove.

" okay so... where is the kid now?" Barry asked his senses tuning into the crime scene, no knife but there was blood. He lifts her shirt where the stain was most prominent. "Uh he's sitting in the back of a cruiser, they are about to take him down to the station to meet with his father."

Barry gave a slow nod then he drags his fingers across the cuts slowly "Joe look at this.." he said in a low voice.

" do I have to?" Barry didn't respond as Joe leaned in slightly "what exactly am I looking at?" He said hesitantly.

" this.." he points to the five puncture wounds in her side then he looked up at his face "she didn't die from the stab.. I think it had poison on the weapon..." Joe furrows his brows as Barry grabbed a sample kit from the bag " how do you know that?"

"Because if she died from a natural stab wound there would be way more blood, or the cut would be somewhere much more deadly... the side of her abdomen? Not really a place for vital organs.." He swabs two of the puncture marks then he stuck the Q-Tip in some clear liquid and sloshed it slowly.

"Blue means poison..." he said glancing at Joe again then looking to the vial. At first it was a light pink due to some of the blood seeping out then it turned a dark blue "it was poison" Joe whispers.

"I'll have Cisco come down and see if he can pick up anything else... but after I take a few more samples there's nothing else I can really do" Barry stood up slowly after recovering her with the blanket then he sticks his things back into the kit.

" oh yeah alright, I'm gonna talk to the witnesses and see if they can get anything...say hey to Iris for me" Barry froze just as he was about to walk away then he slowly turned back around.

" uhhhhhhhhhh" He said his shoulders slightly haunched up to his neck. Joe looked him up and down sideways then he shut his notepad laughing a little " why are you turtling?"

Barry drops his shoulders then he shook his head in defense, Joe laughs again then he mimicked his son his own shoulders coming up to his ears. "Turtling Barr"

Barry nods a little then he looks down swinging his arms back and forth "uhh look Joe- there's something I've been needing to talk to you about..." he moved a hand to the back of his neck slowly.

" me and Iris have agreed to get a divorce..." he claps his hands together softly and his adoptive fathers face dropped slowly, he really hated that look. Frozen and angry.

"You are leaving my daughter?" Joe said obviously picking her side. Why wouldn't he? She was his daughter.

" no.. it's... it's not like that-" Barry starts to say back trying to keep his tone mellow since he didn't wanna get shot at a crime scene.

" then tell me, how is it like?" Barry tried not to laugh at that very awkward sentence since this was a serious moment. " I'm starting to see someone else..." Joe sighs slowly then he looks away from him.

"Joe come on. You can't be mad at me... you told me to follow my heart... I'm doing that now..." Joe nods and he glanced at Barry " I'm just disappointed..." Barry's face dropped and he looks away from Joe as he walked away.

He looks at the wedding band on his finger then he closed his hand into a fist and left the opposite direction speeding off to star labs once he got alone.
