You retrieved your pre-packed lunch and closed the door to your locker only to be met with the blinding flash of a camera positioned way too close to your face. Blinking dazedly, you looked over to see your best friend, Taehyung, cackling while looking at the tiny screen on the camera perched in his hands.
"Taehyung!" You hissed out his name forcefully even though you were fighting a smile.
He merely held up the chunky camera again, preparing to take another photo.
"No." You whined, covering the lens with your hand. "Stop taking pictures of me when I'm not looking. It's so not funny."
"It is to me."
You sighed and headed down the hallway, trying to blink away the lingering spot in your vision from the flash.
"You have no idea how many pictures I have on here." Taehyung snickered as he flicked through the photos he took.
"Tae." You frowned.
"Don't be so uptight." He reached over to ruffle your hair, but you dodged his hand. The both of you headed to the outdoor lunch area and took a seat at one of the thermoplastic-coated picnic tables. Taehyung set his camera aside and started unpacking his lunch.
"What'd you bring today?" You asked him.
"Leftover pizza. You?"
"A sandwich and a couple tangerines."
"What kind of sandwich?"
"Peanut butter and jelly."
"Okay." Taehyung nodded. "Well, I've got two slices of pizza."
You raised a brow at him, unspoken words being exchanged between you two almost telepathically.
"Let's share." You both spoke in unison, nodding.
He gave you one slice of pizza and you gave him one tangerine and half of your sandwich in return. This was something you'd both been doing since middle school. If either of you had anything extra packed, you'd share with each other, while other times you'd trade altogether.Throughout the duration of lunch, you talked about funny things you'd seen on the internet or what tests you had coming up, maybe even something funny that happened during class. Nothing new or even remotely interesting, just typical high school chit-chat.
As you sipped on your small juice box, you weren't paying attention when Taehyung's camera flashed.
"Taehyung!" You yelped.
"Y/n!" He mimicked in the same tone.
"Stop that."
"Stop that."
"You're literally in high school. Cut it out."
"You're literally in high school. Cut it out."
You huffed sharply and gathered your trash.
"I was just kidding, cutie." He nudged you, the new and very sudden use of that nickname sending a warm rush across your face.
He didn't normally call you things like that.
"We need to head back to class." You stood up and started making your way back into the school, choosing to push aside your flustered feelings. At the end of the day, you and Taehyung liked to linger in the hallway before walking home together. Sometimes you went to each other's houses to hang out or work on homework assignments.
Taehyung sat across from you, fiddling with his camera. He always had that thing on him, hanging around his neck. He held the device up, ready to snap yet another photo of you.
"Hey!" You raised your hand, shielding your face.
"No." Taehyung reached out and lowered your hand. "I wanna take one of you looking at the camera this time."
You heaved a reluctant sigh and looked into the lens, putting on a smile despite how awkward you felt. He snapped the photo, grinning like an idiot while checking the final result.
