The short heels of your boots clicked against the pavement as you made your way to the local bookstore for a little retail therapy. It was a rather chilly day, as it was mid-autumn, but perfect for a good book and some hot tea. You stepped into the bookstore, the bell above the door dinging to signal your arrival as you passed the threshold, a warm gust of air blowing past your cold cheeks. "Welcome." Glancing up, you locked eyes with the man stood behind the counter. His captivating looks caught your attention immediately, making it difficult to look away. "Hello." You gave him a small nod in greeting and made your way to the back of the store, focusing on the reason you were there.
You browsed the shelves, your fingertips ghosting over the spines of the books as you searched for a title that piqued your interest. Your fingers came to a stop on a book near the end of the shelf you were perusing, Kafta on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. You pulled the book off the shelf and flipped it around to read the description. "Hm." You hummed in interest and carried the book with you while continuing to browse.
You ended up in the romance section, checking out a book titled Me Before You. You recalled a film of the same title being released a few years ago, knowing it was one of those sad romance movies just from the title alone. Despite that, you took the book with you and made your way towards the register.
The cute guy behind the counter was silently flipping through a book to bide his time, lifting his gaze when you approached. He pushed his glasses up his nose in a way that you found to be adorable, setting his book aside. "How are you?" He asked, making general conversation as all cashiers do. "I'm doing well." "Did you find everything you were looking for?" "I think so." You placed your books on the countertop. "Oh, this one is really good." He pointed to Me Before You. "There's a movie about it, but I think the book is better." "They usually are." You chuckled softly. He scanned the book and went to grab the second one, his brows raising in recognition. "I love this author and this book is fantastic. I think you'll like it a lot. Haruki Murakami is one of my favorites. I would also suggest Norwegian Wood." "If I like this one, I might check it out." You smiled. While he scanned the second book, you stole a glance at his name tag. Namjoon.
His long fingers pressed a few buttons on an iPad and while his attention was focused elsewhere, you took the opportunity to admire his alluring features since you were up close. His skin was perfectly tanned, almost as if he had been kissed by the sun itself. His dark brown hair was parted neatly to the side, his bangs hanging down over his forehead as he messed with the touch screen, pursing his full lips. His black and silver rimmed glasses rested on his cute little nose, having slid down a bit since he'd adjusted them just a couple minutes earlier. He gave you your total, which snapped you back to reality, your arm extending to hand him your credit card. He swiped it through the attachment on the iPad, tapping the screen before turning the device around to you. "Sign here, please." You used your finger to scribble a messy signature on the screen, cringing at the result. "Thank you." Namjoon smiled, showing a set of dimples while turning the iPad back. "Would you like your receipt?" "Yes, please." He printed one out, dropping it into a bag along with your two books, passing it over. "Have a nice day." "Thanks. You too." You shot him a closed-mouth smile and headed out the door.
