Chapter 23: Rin Uchiha [Shippuden]

Hello guys!

This chapter is the entirety of the Kabuto battle as well as Rin vs Fugaku. The fight in the series was surprisingly short so I didn't have too much to work with. I think it's still pretty good though. 

The next chapter will have some exciting stuff though and I am super pumped for it.

Also the main part of this chapter is in Zetsu's POV I figure he'd be all over the battlefield especially since Fake Madara/Tobi needs to keep tabs on Rin.

Zetsu

I could see the uncertainty between Sasuke and Itachi. Rin was normally the wedge between them, but now she had quickly become all that was holding them together. She had chosen to fight their father and whether it was to prove something to him or herself I couldn't be sure. This left Sasuke and Itachi to fight Kabuto, and I didn't think there was ever a time that those two have fought together rather than against each other.

"Remember we can't kill him!" Itachi reminded Sasuke. Their fight was about to begin, but I was sent to keep an eye on Rin. She still hadn't moved, or at least not that I had noticed but knowing her fighting style she already had at least three other plans in play. I couldn't even be sure the one standing before Fugaku was the real one. 

"It seems your brothers have become more inclined to follow your will" Fugaku noted, Rin shrugged.

"We've made many mistakes by not listening to each other, we're trying to change that."

"This just leads to more questions" He admitted. 

"What do you want to know?" Rin asked as she bounced from foot to foot, her blazing red eyes watching him.

"Everything," Rin vanished as soon as Fugaku moved. It felt like I had blinked, and they were both in the air. Rin crossed her arms absorbing the impact of his kick as he tried to move higher. She used his force to plant her feet against the cave roof and propel herself forward, but her fist missed its mark as he reappeared above her landing a kick into her spine. The crack echoed,  catching Sasuke's attention as she slammed to the ground. Itachi pulled him back to their own fight as Kabuto pressed forward with his snakes. Fugaku's eyes were full of worry as he stared at Rin's body.

"Following the massacre, I spent about six years out of the village." Rin's voice echoed, and Fugaku looked up as she pulled herself out of the roof of the cave. She stood straight, staring down at him and I noticed a smirk cross his face.

"The headhunter Jutsu, clever." 

"Most people expect it to be used from the ground, but most people aren't very creative" She replied as she let herself fall, drawing her katana in the process. She flipped mid-air and landed, slamming her katana into the ground causing lightning to fill the room. Fugaku drew back as she pressed on, widening her attack and forcing Kabuto to move his fight farther away.

"I was an apprentice for one of the seven swordsmen of the mist and became what many consider to be the deadliest assassin the Akatsuki's ever had. Sasuke remained in the village and we eventually reunited," Fukgaku jumped up as Rin's lightning slammed into the wall behind him. Sunlight poured into the cave, and Rin chased Fugaku as he escaped through the opening.

"And Itachi?" He asked, dodging Rin's blade.

"The Akatsuki as well. I tried my best to protect them, to keep the promise I had made to you, but Sasuke killed Itachi and I abandoned Sasuke as a result."  Rin admitted. Fugaku managed to kick Rin's blade from her hand. Rin caught his fist when he launched at her, and caught his second attempt this time locking her grip.
