Chapter 31: Rin Uchiha [Shippuden]

Naruto

Neji, Lords Shikaku and Inoichi, and so many others gone in the blink of an eye. I could barely feel my connection to Rin and tried to reach out when I could. However, Kurama said as the body of the ten-tails grows so will the disconnect. That Rin had to be alone for it to take over, but we needed her strengths. I was coming to my limit, and even as Sakura healed me I felt restless.

"Rin!" I reached out.

"Your chakra is limited, you can't reach far enough," Kurama replied. I huffed out of frustration and focused on Sakura's hands on my back. Things were looking grim as Shikamaru and Ino tried to accommodate for what we had lost. The alliance worked in unison, using an earth barrier to block the Jubi's attack. The ground rumbled beneath us, and I closed my eyes as it tore through each barrier like paper.

"Lord B!" I looked up, opening my eyes relieved to see Killer B and the eight-tails catching the beast ball. They struggled against it, and it vanished just as quickly as it had come. 

"Am I too late?" I grinned, eyeing the characters on the back of his cloak.

"No way, you got here right on time Dad."

"Huh, whose Dad?" Sakura questioned.

"I'm Minato Namikaze, brace for an explosion," He advised.

"I sent ten-tails attack over there into the sea," He explained. Even from this distance, the shockwave sent rocks and debris flying.

"So, talk! Who are you?" Sakura demanded.

"Don't worry, I'm an ally of yours. It looks like I owe you thanks for healing Naruto," He replied, turning to face us. He looked between Sakura and me.

"So, are you Naruto's girlfriend?"

"Yeah, yeah I guess you could say that" I replied enthusiastically.

"You shut your trap, don't waste your energy talking!" Sakura snapped, smacking me hard enough in the back that I fell forward.

"You're supposed to be healing me, not hurting me even more," I whined.

"Oh, I'll just heal the extra damage too," Sakura dismissed, and Minato released a nervous chuckle.

"Please, could you go easy on my son?" He requested.

"This is just such a surprise. Although, it seems like you knew" Sakura pointed out, and I nodded.

"Yeah, I sensed his chakra in nine-tails mode. The others should be arriving soon too," I explained. Familiar portals opened above us, gaining the nervous attention of the others but I had never felt more relief. I knew this jutsu, and as the other Kage fell though I knew it meant Rin wouldn't be far behind.

"Lord Third Hokage, and also aren't they...?" Sakura gasped.

"Alright then, let's do this!" Lord First shouted. The alliance was stunned into silence as they realized who had arrived.

"So, you're the ones who stopped the attack, but who reanimated you?" A shinobi nearby asked.

"Orochimaru is the one who summoned us, but we need to put an end to this war quickly," Lord Third answered.

"What, Orochimaru died didn't he?" Sakura replied, but her questions were lost in the excitement of the others.

"I'm so lost," Sakura sighed.

"The other reinforcements are coming to. I guess they're lagging behind a bit," I replied, watching for more portals.

"It's about damn time. I've been waiting Hashirama!" Madara shouted, landing in a cloud of dust nearby. Lord First pointed at him.
