Rin

I stumbled as I stepped out of the shadows. My skin felt hot, and my movements were unbalanced. I tugged on my armor plates attempting to loosen them but ended up pulling them off, tossing them to the ground as I dragged my feet forward.

"Where is the danger?" The Jubi's voice startled me. I came to a stop as I reached out my hand to steady myself against a tree. I noticed it then, the tree's bark darkened and the leaves fell to ash around me.

"What the hell is going on?" I gasped as I sunk to the ground at the base of the tree. I crossed my legs and set my trembling hands in my lap as I tried to center myself.

"Madara's chakra will need time to settle," Even when the Jubi spoke he seemed distant. The world faded between the forest and a place I could not recall. There were glimpses of Madara, young and utilizing dark chakra without weaving signs. A feat I had only managed a handful of times. This is what he had meant, the knowledge he gave me and his chakra was overwhelming. Only a faint bark managed to anchor me to reality.

"Rin!" I drew a kunai from my pouch, throwing it into the ground before the newcomer. I looked up slowly, a little confused to see Pakkun staring at me.

"Kakashi" I breathed.

"I-I need to see Kakashi now."

"I can take you to him," Pakkun replied gently but I shook my head, flinching as the world once again came in and out of focus.

"Bring him here now!"

Kakashi

I had gotten the go-ahead to send out my hounds after the first hour of Rin's disappearance. Naruto kept trying to reach out to her, but he said something was blocking him. The search parameters continued to grow and with each passing hour, the teams got smaller but more specialized. Shinobi that were trained to find people who didn't want to be found were hand-picked from each division and sent to look any sign of her. A series of howls pulled me from my thoughts and I looked to Naruto.

"They found her" I breathed but Naruto seemed confused as he looked at his hand.

"I can't reach her," He replied.

"She's there I just can't..." My attention was taken elsewhere as one of my hounds broke through the forest line.

"Pakkun has located Rin, but she won't allow anyone to approach. Her only request is you" I wasn't sure what to do. My instinct was to go, but the other knew I had responsibilities here.

"Kakashi go," Gai said suddenly.

"As your second I can take command until you return." I stared at him for a moment before nodding in agreement.

"Naruto stay with Gai, I'll bring back Rin" I replied, and before he could object I followed my hound back into the forest. The closer we got, the more subtle changes I noticed. The lack of animals, the silence, and the remnants of dark chakra. I slowed as we approached. There were two other shinobi and Pakkun, all watching a tree in the distance.
