Chapter 2: Rin Uchiha [Shippuden]

"The Sage of the Six Paths?" I repeated and Madara nodded. I scoffed.

"That's just an old myth. The Rinnegan was a random mutation, that's all" I objected.

"But myths are often based on the truth. The Sage of the Six Paths tried to foster world peace through his teachings but his end came before he could fulfill his mission. The Sage then left his will and his teachings to his two sons" Madara began.

"The older son had been born with the Sage's eyes, granting him chakra powers and mental energy. He knew strength was necessary for peace. While the younger was born with the gift of the Sage's body, granting him stamina and physical energy. He knew love was necessary for peace" He continued.

"On his death bed the Sage chose a single successor, his decision created the eternal curse of hatred that has continued for generations."

"What do you mean by that?" Naruto interrupted.

"The Sage decided to chose not the older brother who sought strength but the younger brother who sought love and made the second son his successor. The first born who had long expected to follow in his father's footsteps could not accept this decision, so he declared war on his younger brother" Madara explained.

"Even as time passed and blood ties thinned the descendants of the two brothers continued to battle. The descendants of the older brother came to be known as the Uchiha and the descendants of the younger brother were called the Senju" He went on.

"As an Uchiha my battle with the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju was destined to occur. This may be only our second meeting but I can tell you hold the Senju's will of fire within you. The will of fire and hatred, Naruto and Sasuke; you two are just the next in line to be chosen by destiny" Madara explained.

"The Uchiha clan is cursed with a destiny of vengeance, Sasuke has shouldered the entire burden of the Uchiha hatred and intends to strike deep into the world with that curse. That hate is his most powerful weapon, his friend and the source of his power. That is Sasuke's ninja way" Madara said loudly. There was some enthusiasm in his voice. Naruto had anger in his eyes as he glared at Madara.

"What about Rin?" I asked breaking the silence.

"Excuse me?" Madara replied.

"You said if Rin hadn't declared her hatred for Sasuke, he would have followed her. That she could pull him from this" I reminded and he nodded slightly.

"Yes, Rin Uchiha" He mused. I could hear the distaste in his voice as he said her name.

"The light in the Uchiha darkness" He started slowly.

"The knowledge has been passed down for generations among the Uchiha. My clan waited generations for the light to be born, the child that would end the curse of the Uchiha, which would aid in the creation of peace. Her birth had been long foretold"

"By who?" Yamato asked.

"As I said, The Sage of the Six Paths"

"How could he have known Rin would be born?" I replied and Madara sighed.
