Charlie rubs her hands deep into Dan's bare shoulders, trying to relax him. She's been doing this for the past hour although she doesn't know about his rough day. Dan isn't sure about whether this lifestyle he chose is the right one for him. He doesn't like camera's...but yet today he had to wear a Spider-Man costume around Comic-Con to conceal his identity.
His sudden fame.
"Today I got the cutest baby clothes ever. I know we said that we're not going to spoil her...but like...look at them! They're adorable!" Charlie squeals in delight while Dan's eyes wander to the newly filled up suitcase on the floor, it's still open so he sees majority of the baby clothes.
"We still have LA yet."
Pinewood Studios in London has been home to a few stunt scenes, however, Aubrey has added several new scenes into the script which contain more action scenes. So that's why they're going to Hollywood, the home of action blockbusters.
"Shit!" Charlie laughs while she gives herself a facepalm.
"Baby memory, innit. Duh. I mean...I'll get another suitcase and fill that up. Wait, do you have room in yours?" Charlie curiously asks when she gets off of the bed and goes to Dan's suitcase which is besides hers.
"Don't pick it up it's heav-" Dan gets cut off while Charlie strains her back trying to lift it up.
"Ow!" She moans in agony holding onto her back. Dan quickly stands up and helps her move back to the bed, where she painfully sits down.
"That the fuck do you have in there?" Charlie tries not to cry while Dan laughs.
"Clothes."
"I guess I'm going to have to chuck some of my clothes away to make room for Lacey's." Dan immediately smiles at his daughters name.
"Or, how about you just don't get our unborn daughter no more clothes?" Charlie almost gasps looking offended.
"America has so much more affordable boutiques. I cannot not buy her clothes. They're so adorable and tiny...." at this point Dan is almost convinced that the baby was planned, and not a surprise. He feels like Charlie loves her daughter more than any other expectant mother, which is sort of true.
Dan then shrugs his shoulders back. "She isn't due for like another twenty something weeks." Charlie rolls her eyes backwards, while she lays down on the bed with a sigh.
"You need to be more involved with her." Dan then makes a long 'uh' sound while he looks down at his girlfriend.
"Do you want me to elaborate?" Charlie asks while Dan nods his head in confusion. He isn't sure what Charlie means by getting more 'involved' with his unborn daughter.
"What I mean is that you don't have to be afraid to talk to her...I know you find it weird holding my stomach and shit." Dan looks severely unimpressed with Charlie's 'presumptions'. Dan isn't scared to talk to the baby, and he finds comfort in holding her bump, it's just that he doesn't like doing it when Charlie's awake. He finds it more awkward than anything.
"I know you do it when I'm trying to get asleep." Dan's eyes widen in shock for a second or two while Charlie cradles her bump and bursts out laughing.
"Don't look like that! It's sweet, babe" — Charlie grabs Dan's hand — "it's really sweet." She repeats again while Dan then falls forwards and collapses on the bed, pretending to be dead because that's how he is feeling inside.
"Why do you lie about being asleep?" Dan then laughs.
"I don't lie. You know that I usually sleep on my belly, but obviously because I can't...it takes ages getting off to sleep." Some nights Charlie doesn't sleep at all, but she doesn't want to tell Dan that in case he gets worried.
"Stop spying on me." Dan shyly mumbles while Charlie shakes her head.
"You wanna know something?" Charlie then awkwardly sits up little, just so she's closer to Dan's face, although they don't kiss or anything.
"What?" Dan smiles.
"You have said some of the loveliest things I've ever heard a you say. I'm almost jealous of Lacey." Dan then dives his head into Charlie's shoulder feeling embarrassed. But he knows that he shouldn't be, he just loves his daughter.
"I love you both." Dan says reassuringly while Charlie makes a disbelieved 'mhmm' noise.
"What, it's true!" Dan laughs while Charlie shakes her head.
"No offence but I love Lacey more than you. Like, I'd get a tattoo with her name on, but I wouldn't for you. But like...I still love you...but not that much anymore." Dan's eyebrows raise while he looks at her feeling totally not phased.
"Feelings mutual." Both Dan and Charlie burst out laughing. This talk is in fact very popular between parents. A lot of couples who was so madly in love, before kids, would take a bullet for each other. However, after kids, they'll happily throw one another in front of a gunman to protect their true loves.
While Charlie and Dan both scoff at how they've dramatically changed over the past couple of months, the room service that Charlie ordered before Dan got back to the hotel room knocks at the door. She stands besides a trolley full of Charlie's craving food.
Not a bad way to wrap up the last night in San Diego.
