— SDCC 2019, day 1
Dan can't believe it, neither can his friends.
Never in a million of years would he of ever thought that he'd be going to comic-con. Not just any comic-con either. No. This is San Diego Comic-Con, the largest international convention.
"This is well fucking insane mate" Chris says while he looks down out of the wall wide hotel window, of which overlooks the entire con's parking lot. there's barely any room for the international convention goers.
"Mate, I can't believe it. Last year I was wearing my Avengers shirt about to go to the cinema to watch Infinity War and now....we're here promoting your new Marvel flick. Fucking mental." Ralph sits down on the bed feeling totally overwhelmed while Dan and Chris sits next to him.
"When is the trailer going to premiere again?" Dan shrugs back his shoulders. He doesn't know the exactly time, although he has a rough idea thanks to a memo he received minutes ago.
"When we're on the panel. I need to give them the trailer first...or something like that. I don't know why they trusted me with it." Both of his mates jaws drop in shock. They wasn't expecting Dan to say that of all things. They was under the impression that it would be Dan's first time watching the trailer at the panel with them!
"Wait, let me get this straight...so for this whole fucking time you have had the trailer?" Dan nervously laughs before slightly nodding his head.
"Show it to us then!" Dan, who feels completely embarrassed, shakes his head.
"Come on mate, it's not going to be that bad. I should know since I was there when you filmed half of the thing. Just ask your mother innit!" Ralph lightly laughs whilst Dan quickly stands up looking fairly pale in the face. He isn't comfortable showing his friends or family. Surprisingly that's fairly common in the acting industry.
"The trailer isn't what you probably would expect it to be and-" Chris cuts Dan off. He doesn't care how the trailer looks. He's simply proud of his friend and how he has overcome such a dark past.
"Just show us it. It's only logical to watch the bloody thing before you talk about it for hours...just so we know what you're talking about." Dan then sighs in defeat.
He knows that today he can show anyone the trailer...since it's getting globally released. So Dan chucks his phone down on the bed while Ralph and Chris scavenge the phone.
Since many people use Dan's phone, including his new assistant, he has turned his passcode feature off for good. So Ralph easily goes to Dan's camera roll but discovers it isn't there.
"You trolling us?" Ralph asks with a laugh.
"Go on my emails mate, there's one from Aubrey Chambers." Ralph goes on to Dan's email app quickly. The first thing that jumps up on the screen is the opened email from Aubrey, of course Woody gives a comical tut.
"Dickhead." Chris bluntly laughs while Dan sits on the opposite side of the room preparing for his friends to admit that the trailer is shit.
Dan's eyes widen when he hears the tense music, "shit-pause-pause." Ralphs quickly says since the screen has gone black but the audio plays.
"The fuck are you doing?" Dan watches both of them tap on the screen at the same time, they're like a pair of over excited primary school children.
"The fucking thing has stopped working. Your phone is an actual piece of sh-way hey!" Ralph then says as the screen comes back on. Before it turns off again he puts it on full screen and presses play. There's a long and uncomfortable silence while Dan watches their reactions.
"Sexy." Chris mumbles under his breath as a joke because Dan's face in the second half of the trailer - much like the second and third act of the film - is fairly stern.
"Beautiful." Ralph whispers back, while they both watch it. Dan on the other hand cringes when he hears himself talk.
"Fucking hell..." Chris smiles as he gets this sudden urge to react in a childlike way. The trailer looks increible to him, it's far from shit as well as far from what he was suspecting. Ralph on the other hand watches his best friend on the screen with his mouth wide open, he is completely proud of Dan. More to the point he wants to know every little thing which is happening in the movie.
"No...no...don't fucking end!" Chris laughs before Dan stands up and retrieves his phone.
"Do not tell anyone that you watched that!" Dan cringes as he knows that he has probably made a fatal mistake. But he doesn't care that much...
"Where's Charlie?" Chris asks looking confused at Charlie's whereabouts, although her suitcase is on the floor besides Dan's.
"She's gone to explore the hotel and ask if there's room service." Both of Dan's mate's then make an 'oh' sound. Neither of them know whether the hotel has room service to answer the question, so there's a awkward silence.
"I guess we'd better leave you to unpack?" They're staying in America for two weeks. Aubrey said that Comic-Con should be treated like a vacation. Plus, it's beneficial for Charlie and Dan to mix in with other Hollywood actors and actresses, as well as stay humble to their fans.
Everything later on today is going to change for Charlie and Dan.
Today is where the world will scream their names...
