Nine hours later and Dan has finally been given a valid update.

The doctor who has been in surgery with Charlie has revealed the exact type of cancer Charlie has been unknowingly battling with. While they're sure that they removed it...they cannot be entirely sure until the next scan in several weeks.

Charlie on the other hand remains cold and unconscious, but the morphine is slowly wearing off.

When Dan and Charlie arrived in hospital it was early in the morning, since they got home from the dinner later than they intended. It's now roughly 10am, everyone's bellies make a grouching noise although they're too caught up in emotions to eat.

"I'm going to postpone the film." Aubrey whispers while Dan's mother goes off into the distance holding her granddaughter. Isla and Rod have been coming and going with the little one, they both want her to have a good rest and get some air as babies should. Dan on the other hand hasn't left his seat.

Since this is a private hospital, they don't have set visiting hours, so they're free to come and go out as they please. Only as long as they give themselves hand sanitiser or wear masks, but the latter in this situation isn't necessary...yet. Many people crowd the room, including Aubrey's wife. Though they're the closest people that Charlie's ever had to a family...and of course one of those people being her own flesh and blood.

Dan nods his head in agreement. There's no way Aubrey will ever let Charlie walk back on set, especially not after today.

"Fuck...no..." Dan's eyes widens in shock while everyone in the room looks at Charlie. Weakly the twenty something tries to open her eyes...but physically can't. Which frustrates her, but that feeling soon passes while she begins to feel incredibly sick.

"Babe!" Dan helplessly says a little loudly while he then holds her cold by clammy hand.

   "Lace..." She whispers.

"She's here, darling." Isla coo's whilst holding her granddaughter.

Charlie then forced her eyes open. They hurt for some unknown reason and feel very heavy, but as soon as they focus...she feels wide awake.

"Help me up." Charlie whispers under her breath in shock that she's now officially a mother.

Dan on the other hand endlessly looks at his girlfriend, he's in shock that Charlie hasn't asked about her own health. "Fucker..." Charlie then weakly hits Dan on his hand, hoping to get his attention.

"Help me up." Charlie excitedly smiles.

"No, Charlotte. Wait until the doctor sees you, okay?" Aubrey says while Charlie, who hadn't noticed her enemy, then rolls her eyes backwards at the sound of her light American voice.

"I'll go and call a doctor for you, okay?" Rod gently says while Charlie nods her head with a smile. Under her breath, and while Aubrey isn't looking she mouths 'thank you'. She's grateful for Dan's parents sticking around.

"Who invited this dickhead then?" Charlie growls while nobody in the room answers straight away, they're not sure whether Charlie knows about her condition or not...

She seems so happy.

"Aubrey's your emergency contact...and she needs support." With that Charlie then rolls her eyes once again at Aubrey's wife's voice. She hates her just as much as she hates Aubrey.

"Can someone tell tweedledum and tweedledee to go away?" Everyone in the room apart from Aubrey and her wife, Dakota, sniggers at Charlie being typical Charlie.

Then the topic gets reverted back to Lacey, since Aubrey and Dakota don't snap back like they usually do.

"Why can't I hold my baby anyway?" — Charlie then sulks, whining like a spoilt primary school child — "All I want to hold her. Dan tell your mum." With that Dan looks at Charlie and shakes his head slightly.

Nobody in the room wants to be a barren of bad news, but Dan knows it'll be best if he told her. Sometimes cancer patients don't feel like they'll be going through it alone. "You're not well." He whispers trying not to cry again, although Charlie can already sense that he's been crying. It's why she isn't shocked.

Dan hardly never cries...so this must be a big deal.

"What do you mean?" — Charlie cuts herself off with a nervous laugh — "I'm fine...just a little tired...and mentally unstable, but you know...it's only because I want to hold my daughter and you won't let me. But I promise I'll go to sleep if you at least let me try to hold her." Charlie tries to bribe Dan while he smiles at her stubbornness.

"They found something bad..." his voice trails off while Charlie looks at him confused.

"Bad as in...what?" Charlie questions.

"In a MRI scan they found cancer. They removed most of it but..." Charlie eyes widen in horror while she tries her hardest to raise her arms up so she can pull down the covers to look at her body, but the morphine prevents her from doing anything. So instead it looks like she's heavily breathing, more or less going cross eyed.

Instead she just heavily breathes while Isla bursts into tears, but Dakota and Aubrey stand up and go to her for support.

"I really don't care about me. Just put Lacey on my chest or something..." despite knowing that she has a form of cancer, her main priority is her daughter. Charlie's never really cared that much about herself, she isn't the type of person who's afraid of death either.

"But the doctor hasn't checked up on you yet, and-" Charlie cuts her boyfriend off short.

"I could be dying for all we know...and I still haven't held my little girl. I say that we should fuck the doctors orders just this once." Charlie tearfully says. The only reason why she's crying is because she wants to hold Lacey.

Isla then pushes past her son's seat, and gently lays Lacey on top of her mother. Just so that her small youth smelling head can touch Charlie's cheek, considering the morphine problem. "It's not like cancer is contagious." Isla hisses at Dan's decision to prevent Charlie from holding Lacey until the doctor arrives.

Dan lowers his head while his mother picks Dan's arm up and makes him lean across the bed slightly, so that his hand is resting gently on Lacey's back, it's just so that she doesn't roll off of Charlie.

Charlie ignores the family drama and closes her eyes kissing Lacey's head.

"Mummy loves you" she tearfully sobs in happiness.

The happiest day of my life. Charlie thinks to herself, while embracing her daughters warmth.
