"I'll be back guys!" (Y/n) called to the other girls. They waved as they continued to cheer. (Y/n) took a hallway to the outside of the stadium, near the forest. She had the fight coming up and she needed to calm her nerves. Maybe sitting in the shade would do the trick.
"(Y/n)?"
She turned to see Shoto sitting against the wall of the stadium, shaded by the trees.
"Hey Shoto. You nervous too?" she sat down next to him, smoothing out her skirt.
"No," he lied. (Y/n) sighed.
"Of course you are. You're gonna do your best and do your father proud. I'm sure lots of agenci-"
"I'm not."
"Huh?" (Y/n) quirked an eyebrow and tipped her head. "But isn't he watching the fes-"
"He is, but I'm not competing to prove anything to that bastard." he snarled. (Y/n) was surprised by the ferocity in his voice.
"You asked about my burn..." he continued quietly. "It's his fault."
"He gave you that scar? That's awful!" (Y/n) gasped, tears welling up in her eyes. Shoto scoffed.
"No. Ever memory I have of my mother, she was crying. My old man convinced her family to have an arranged quirk marriage. My mother suffered every day she spent in our home."
"One night, I heard her talking on the phone with her mother, telling her how upset she was here. She saw me, and something in her... broke. She grabbed the kettle off the stove and burned me with it. "That eye is unsightly!" she cried. My father sent her to a mental hospital and never contacted her again."
(Y/n)'s lower lip quivered and a few tears slipped down her face. Startling Shoto, she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. He froze up, unsure of what to do. He awkwardly patted her back and relaxed in her embrace.
"Do your best Shoto. Not for your father. For you." (Y/n) whispered. She stood and made her way back to the stadium field

"Hey guys! Are you ready?"
The crowd screamed back their reply, excitedly buzzing about the upcoming rounds.
"A lot's happened, but it's now come to this! A serious battle! You can only depend on yourself!"
"Even if you're not a hero, you'll face lots of situations like that. You get it right?" he called out to no one in particular. "Heart, skill, body, wisdom, and knowledge! Use all of that to rush up!"
"The finals that you've all been waiting for are finally starting! Match number one!"
(Y/n) looked up to the screen above the crowd. She sat next to Bakugo in the stands reserved for the classes.
"Even though he's done so well, what's with that face? From the hero course, it's Izuku Midoriya!"
The crowd, including (Y/n) cheered loudly for the freckled boy.
"Versus-"
"Sorry, he hasn't done anything to stand out yet! From general studies, it's Hitoshi Shinso!"
(Y/n) clapped and cheered respectfully for the boy who talked to her in the garden.
"The rules are simple. Force your opponent out of bounds, or immobilize them! You can also win by making your opponent say, "I give up!" Bring on the injuries, because we've got our very own Recovery Girl on standby! Put aside your morals and ethics for a moment!"
