"The first game of the first year stage is finally over!" Midnight announced. "Now let's take a look at the results!"
The scores appeared on the screen. Midoriya in first place, (Y/n) in second, Shoto in third, Bakugo in fourth...
"The top 42 made it through to the next round. It's unfortunate, but don't worry even if you didn't make it! We've prepared other chances for you to shine. The real competition begins next!"
"Now then," she continued. "Here is the second game. I already know what it is, but what could it be? What could it be?"
(Y/n) tensed, waiting for the games to stop flashing by.
"I just said it, and now here it is..."
The screen stopped on a yellow background with kanji behind it, spelling out "Cavalry Battle".
(Y/n) gulped nervously. She wasn't sure who to pick to be part of her team yet.
"It's basically the same as a regular cavalry battle, but the one thing that's different is... based on the results of the last game, each person has been assigned a point value."
She continued talking as the students murmured to each other. She snapped at them, quieting their voices.
"And the point value assigned to first place is..."
(Y/n) held her breath.
"Ten million!"
(Y/n) was confused for a few seconds, then realization hit her.
The more points you have... the bigger target you'll be...
She whipped her head around to the scoreboard and her heart nearly stopped.
She was just five points short of ten million.
Eyes turned to her and Izuku, not a friendly smile in sight. (Y/n) laced her hand with Izuku's and gave it a gentle squeeze to calm him.
"Now then, I will explain the rules of the cavalry battle!"
Midnight cracked her whip at the screen, which displayed how the teams would navigate the field.
"The time limit is fifteen minutes. Each team is worth the total of its members' points and the riders will wear a headband with that number on their forehead. Teams will try to grab each others headbands until the time runs out, and try to keep as many points as they can."
Everyone's gaze was turned to the screen, easing (Y/n)'s stress and worry.
"Stolen headbands must be worn from the neck up. So, the more you steal, the harder it'll be to manage them! And the most important thing is that even if your headband gets stolen, or your team falls, you're not out!"
(Y/n) tried to calculate the best people to have on her team.
Well, it would be good to have Bakugo on my team, but I doubt he'll agree with anything I say, Shoto is also strategic, but he's obviously going to do his best for his father...
Now, you have fifteen minutes to build your teams. Start!"
(Y/n) was so focused on strategy, she didn't hear the rest of what Midnight said.
"Ah... well, I still have time to pick my group..."
She looked around, trying to spot the people she wanted on her team.
"Hey, Tsu! Wanna be on my team?" she called out to the green-haired girl.
"Ribbit. Not really. From other's perspectives, you'd be one of the biggest targets, because you have the most points. Everyone will try to swarm you at once."
