I'm the girl you never see. I'm always there but I'm hiding in the shadows of the people around me, I prefer it that way.  My father left me and my mother almost nothing to live off of. I work at the diner across from school, while my mother is an over worked nurse at the local hospital.

My older brother, Sean and I are both Seniors at Stanley High. Sean just happened to be the blessing of the family. He's the school's star baseball player, has amazing grades, and has colleges begging for him. While, I'm here trying to make it through the day with my best friend Jenna.

Jenna is so outgoing, she is the absolute opposite of me. She loves the attention, and going to parties is her favorite. I always make up the excuse that I'm picking up extra shifts, and then she calls me to come pick her up, cause she's drunk and can't drive.

Then you have the usual. Nick and Jessica, the "it" couple of Stanley High. Nick and Sean are pretty good friends. They hang out at school and are both the captains of the baseball team. Jessica is your usual back stabbing bitch. Her and I used to be best friends, but it seems as though fate pulled us apart. I was the shy, vulnerable girl who was best friends with the popular, pretty girl. Things just didn't add up, I hated being pitied, especially by her. Then I found out she was friends with me so she could get to my brother. Like I said, Nick and Jessica, were the usual.

I always looked up to my dad, he was my number one fan, well my only fan. Sean, my dad and I would all play catch in the backyard until my mom called us for dinner. Sometimes, my dad and I would go out at night and look at the stars and try and make shapes or animals. Then one day during my freshman year, my dad left, and never came back. I didn't know if he was still alive until I got a birthday card from him for my sweet sixteen. Sean is kind of like the fatherly figure of the house now, he's extremely over protective.

When ever Nick comes over Sean and him go outside to toss around a ball or they play video games. Notice how I'm not really there, I just lurk in the shadows, that just sounded really creepy. Whenever he's over, I stay in my room to avoid getting embarrassed in front of him. I don't like him like that, I mean he's my brother's best friend, I just prefer it this way. It makes it easier for me to be invisible and for him to be popular, as long as we stay out of eachothers' way then nothing happens. The days and weeks go by without any problems, and I would like to keep it that way, it's for the best.
