"OW"
"Take it easy you wanted this."
We had to wake up at 6:00 for a hair and makeup appointment to be ready for the wedding by noon.
"She's just crabby, grab her a croissant and some coffee."
Food always makes Jenna feel better, and it also keeps her from complaining.
By 9:00 we're making a quick Starbucks run and getting our makeup done, hopefully finished by 10:45 so we can get Jenna in her dress and all of us in our dresses and pictures. I never knew that being the maid of honor would be so much work.
We all finish with enough time for everything, it's all perfect, nothing could go wrong.
Nick and Jessica go down the aisle first, and then Matthew and Brittany, then me. Jenna wanted me to be close to her so she insisted that I go right before her and after the others.
Jenna and Sean are saying their vows when the doors suddenly burst open.
Bang, Bang, Bang
"Everybody get down!"
I pull Jenna away from Sean and hide behind one of the podiums. I see Nick do the same with Sean and Brittany runs to Matthew and hides while Jessica just runs off into a room.
Jenna looks at me, she's extremely pale.
"Bella.... what do we do?"
"Jenna, I love you."
"Bella wait...."
I stand up from behind the podium.
"I am positively sure that you know who my father is. I highly suggest you leave before you get hurt."
"We don't take orders from you, darling."
Bang
I was readying myself for impact but it never came, instead I heard someone collapse in front of me.
Nick.
I reach down to stop the bleeding from his shoulder and look up.
"I suggest you leave before I make that phone call, or you'll all be dead."
With that, they ran.
Matthew takes Nick to the nearest hospital, Jessica seems to have disappeared, and Brittany goes with Matthew for support.
Sean, Jenna and I are sitting in one of the private rooms of the church, and the rest of the family pretty much ran home.
Jenna looks pissed and terrified at the same time.
"Will someone please tell me why there were a bunch of lunatics shooting at my friends at MY WEDDING?!"
Sean squeezes her hand.
"Babe, I'll explain everything later but I need to talk to my sister about some family matter."
"Okay, I'll be outside."
Jenna leaves me and Sean in an awkward silence, too afraid to say anything to each other first.
"Bella, what do you know."
"I know that Dad is a leader of a gang, but I don't know where. I know you were supposed to take over the business but you didn't."
"Okay, well that's not all. Dad's gang is called The Shadows, it's because nobody ever really sees them. But that's not all of it, I didn't join because I didn't want to be apart of his drug empire."
"Drug empire? What are you talking about?"
"Dad's business is dealing drugs, why do you think the house was so big in Cali? That's where all the money comes from. I assume you remember Daryl, he was working with dad. He was told to still sell, but also expand the gang to here, which is why he always had all that money. When I found out about that I started my own gang, for protection."
"Was That all Daryl was told to do, or was he told to abuse me too?"
"Dad wanted Daryl to divide the family, he wanted him to push you towards him. He knew that I found out about the gang and was starting my own, so he wanted you as far away from here as possible."
"So all this was going on while I was still here?!"
"Yeah, dad wanted you and only you, he knew how mom treated you. Daryl was to report back to him how you were doing and how your relationship with mom was. Dad took advantage of your situation."
"Sean, I need some air, but I'm with you all the way."
"Okay."
I walk out towards my car to go back to the apartment, I can't stay here.
So much for being Daddy's Little Girl.
