Home Is Where The Heart Is

Years later...

I was able to get off of my shift early, so I decided to head to Drew's apartment to surprise him. Lily and I had just graduated and Drew is my boyfriend, we've been together for almost a year now. Every now and then I think about Nick and how he's doing, but I push that thought away and enter the apartment.

"Drew?"

No reply.

"Hello? Drew?"

Still no reply.

I open up the bedroom door and find some girl on him with nothing on and his eyes meet mine, recognizing who just walked in, he panics and pushes the girl over and she falls on the floor.

"Babe! You're home early! I thought you would still be at the hospital for another hour?"

"Yeah so you could have another hour to get her out of here before I would come over and visit?! DREW YOU CHEATED ON ME!"

"It's not what it looks like."

"So it's not my boyfriend hooking up with some other girl while I'm gone?"

"This looks really bad doesn't it."

"LOOKS BAD?! IT LOOKS TERRIBLE! I will not be dating a scumbag like you. So go have fun with the rest of your life, but it won't be with me."

Thank god, I haven't fully moved in yet, there's only a couple of outfits that I throw in a bag and storm out.

"BABY COME ON!"

"No. Leave me alone."

When I get in the elevator my composure completely collapses and I start having a melt down. Maybe I should've done what Sean did, stay home. Him and I haven't talked in a while and I haven't visited him at all. I try and FaceTime Jenna and Brittany but it's either they're busy or I am.

I come home and Stacie is in the kitchen making cupcakes and dad is gone, like always. I don't understand how they have so much money if Stacie stays at home and I don't even know what my dad does, it's never been brought up.

Emily's on the couch reading a magazine when I walk in.

"Bella what happened? Are you okay?"

"I caught Drew cheating on me, Em."

"That bastard!"

"He's not even worth it."

For the rest of the night Emily and I go through four pints of ice cream and 3 movies.

I wake up the next morning with a headache from all the sugar I ate last night. I head downstairs and make myself some waffles. Everyone is at the table, like usual.

"I think I'm gonna head home."

As soon as those words left my lips all eyes were on me.

"What? Why?"

"I guess I kind of miss it, and I miss my friends and Sean. I love you guys so much, but I don't really think California is for me. Going to college here was great and graduating, but my life just isn't here."

Dad looks at me.

"We were expecting this to come up sooner or later. We completely understand, just know that you will always have a roof over your head here."

"Thanks dad."

I start packing because my flight leaves later tonight, and I want to have enough time for my goodbyes.

I call a taxi and head to the airport.

Another four hours later and we land. I look up at the house of my childhood in front of me and ring the doorbell. I wasn't expecting any one in particular when the door opened.

"Hey Sean."
