Duncan's POV

I wake up just as the sun starts rising above the shimmering ocean, and look down to see Hannah lying fast asleep on the sand.

"She didn't wake you up last night, did she?", a voice comes from behind me.

I turn around to see Kim standing behind me.

"Nope." I smile.

"Did you hear her talking to Lewis last night?"

"Yeah, I'm glad he woke up."

"It was so cute!" Kim squeals.

I roll my eyes and laugh. This is the first time since we crashed here that we've actually had a completely normal conversation.

"So, did you ever find the food you were looking for in the jungle?" I ask.

"Well, I got a bit distracted when I stabbed Turps." Kim replies sarcastically.

"Oh yeah. So we're foodless?"

"So far, yes."

I pause and think for a moment. Food... Where do they get food from in all those movies where people are stranded on islands? Suddenly an idea pops into my head. It's low tide right now, but the sea should be coming in soon. If I could find enough rocks, I could make a 'V' pointing out towards the ocean, then when the tide comes in, the fish would go into it. When the tide goes back, the fish would be trapped in the point of the 'V'. It's not sure to work, but it's worth a try.

"Duncan? Hello?"

Kim is waving a hand in front of my face.

"I have an idea." I say.

I explain it quickly to Kim, and she nods and runs off to find rocks. Five minutes later, we have gathered a large pile of heavy rocks, and start hauling them into the fast-approaching tide. We finish just in time, and have to run back up to the sands to avoid the waves crashing towards us. I watch in anticipation as the silver fish dart cautiously around our stone 'V', examining it from every angle. I hold my breath as one fish plunges into it. Once all the fish realise that it's safe, they start going casually in and out of it as relaxed as if it it had been there for years.

I exhale and give a small laugh, and high-five Kim. The noise wakes up Smith, who looks up at us groggily.

"Oh... Sorry, we didn't mean to wake you." Kim says.

"It's fine..." Smith says, his voice flat and emotionless.

He gets up and wanders over to look at our fish trap. He seems slightly less down today, and even congratulates us on our trap. I can't help but notice that he's holding his left arm very awkwardly, and he seems to be in pain. Upon closer examination, I see that his arm is definitely crooked, and if he were to pull up his sleeve, I'm sure it would be covered in bruising.
