Darken continued to fold his arms in and out, trying to notice pain. However, there was still none. It was like last night hadn't happened at all. He peered up to a pacing Avalon. "Why does Elizabeth want to see me?"
The cloaked man ignored him, mumbling things he couldn't make out.
Darken began to grow impatient. He wanted an explanation. "Excuse me?"
Avalon stopped and turned around at the sound of his voice.
Darken was met with a black abyss at the entrance of the cloak. He had never seen the man without it before. "Why do you always keep that on?
The man let out a sigh, finally making the decision to unveil his cloak.
Darken was then met with a grown man's face. He had a sharp jawline and facial hair that trailed across his chin. "Were you expecting something different, Mr. Sands?" He tilted his head.
Darken swallowed, averting his gaze. "N-No, sir."
He frowned, beginning to walk toward him. "I suppose you don't understand the magnitude of the situation you've got yourself in-"
"Avalon."
The man immediately recognized the woman's voice. He turned around to meet her gaze.
"That's enough."
Avalon who was mortified at his snap, nodded, giving Darken one last glare before leaving the stone circle.
Elizabeth let out a sigh, making her way over to the unsettled teen. "I'm sorry this happened to you, Darken.."
He began to recall parts of his life where Crest would bully him and tear him down. Mentally destroying him. In Darken's opinion, that hurt more than any bruise or cut. He shrugged, drifting his gaze to his fiddling fingers. "Compared to some other things I've gone through, this wasn't that bad."
It was in this moment she knew she had to come to a decision whether to tell Darken everything. It was obvious things hadn't gone as planned. She knew telling him who he was could alter the prophecy. Elizabeth relaxed her facial muscles. "I know."
He shot his head back at her response. How would this woman even begin to have a clue of what he had been through? The thought angered him. "How would you know?"
She sighed, beginning to sit herself beside him. "Darken." She said. "Did ever you know your parents?"
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Why does that have anything to do with last night?"
"It has everything to do with last night." She said. "Please answer the question."
He shot his gaze to the side, biting his lip. Darken hated where this conversation was leading. If he wanted to talk about his parents, he should've called Crest to come take him back to the therapist. "I never knew them." He mumbled.
"Do you have repetitive dreams?" She studied his reaction at the question.
He stopped immediately what he was doing. Ringing began to form in his ears. Flashbacks of the scenarios at night swarmed through his brain. He didn't move for what felt like hours. Until finally with a heavy sigh, he lifted his head, blue eyes piercing into her green. "I have a feeling you already know the answer."
Elizabeth's breath hitched. She did know. "What's your answer?"
His eyes drifted to the ground to where he was sitting. Replaying it the best he could in mind. "I have the same concept of dream every night, some longer than others." He took in a heavy breath. "It starts off with a fire haired woman, she's calling to me. I call back. As she leaves, I'm stopped by steel bars. I continue to call but she keeps walking. I look to the stars that surround the sky. Above them I see a horse with wings. She flies down to me and allows me to climb on her back." Darken began to stand up, walking toward the edge of the circle. "It's an amazing feeling."
