Sunday passed nonchalantly. It was a quiet day without Anne, but Crest kept Darken busy with chores to be done around the house. When Monday morning came, all Darken could think about was Justin and Anne.
He had friends.
He repeated the sentence several times in his head, when he ate breakfast, and when he shoved his books into his bag. It's all he could think about, until he got the bus that morning. The bus had many empty chairs, and he couldn't help but take notice of the tip of black greasy hair in the back of the vehicle. Darken adjusted his book bag so it hung more comfortably on his shoulder. He then angled himself so he could make his way to the back of the bus.
Justin had his eyes absorbed in an over saturated marvel comic.
Darken bent over to get Justin's attention. "Good morning?"
Justin saw Darkens' hair in the corner of his eye which caused him to jump. "Stars!" He shrieked. "I thought you were an.. insect or something.." Justin shook his head with his wide eyes and then returned his attention back to the book.
Darken sat himself beside him, set his bag beside the seat and took a moment before inhaling. "Do you know a girl by the name of Anne von Blyssen?" He struggled saying the last part.
It was evident Justin had recognized the name before because he raised a brow and kept his eyes on the book. "Why?"
"She's- someone I met last Friday." Darken paused. "Claims to be on your Moorland team."
Justin's eyes expanded, let out a chuckle, and returned his eyes to his lap. "What's she doing here?" Justin didn't look up.
Darkens' stomach made a sound that sounded like something was going to erupt out of it at any given moment.
She was telling the truth.
"So-you, do know her?" He lowered his gaze.
Justin let out a large sigh and started to fold his comic book up. "Of course I know her." He carelessly threw the book into his bag.
Justin was usually very easy to read but, now, Darken had no inkling on what he was feeling. "Is she a bad person or something?"
Justin stopped what he was doing, and laughed. "What makes you think that?"
"I don't know, you're acting weird." Darken motioned up and down at him with his hand.
Justin bit his lip, let out a breath, and readjusted himself in his seat. "Well she's not a criminal if that's what your asking."
Darken leaned in so no one else could hear. "What do you know about her?"
By this moment, Justin could tell Darken had spoken to her and knew who she was.
He moved back and smirked. "We ride together."
Darken felt his shoulders start to hurt from his tense muscles. He slowly moved back and relaxed his face. "Are you guys close?"
Justin leaned his head back and groaned. "Why don't you just ask her?"
"I'm asking you." Darkens' eyes pierced into Justin's which immediately made him feel threatened.
He took a deep sigh and turned to him. "Look, if you want to be a stalker and know everything there is to know about Anne von Blyssen, I'm not going to tell you, and you are certainly not the first." Justin slammed his back into the seat and crossed his arms.
Darken furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean? Do people ask about her a lot?"
Justin slowly turned his head, like he wasn't already annoyed enough. "Guys do."
