I woke and showered having a restful sleep, I felt good and wide awake. I quickly threw on a pair of shorts and a tank top which revealed my lower belly and went down for breakfast. I was surprised to find the Alpha and Finn sat around our table eating breakfast.
"Hi," I greeted them surprised.
"Cara," the alpha acknowledged me. "How are you?" He turned to look at me, giving me a genuine smile.
"I'm doing good," I said heading to the fridge for my orange juice. "How are you?" I asked looking around the table, to see my dad, Mac and Wes at the table eating breakfast with the Alpha and his son without Zak. "Dad, where's Zak?"
"He's still out."
"Okay," I nodded, still out what did he mean? I noticed, Finn his eyes hadn't left me since I got in.
"I'm fine," the alpha spoke, "I just came around to invite you all for a late lunch."
"Aw, that's nice."
"How's the baby?" His eyes now trained on my stomach.
I walked so I was standing behind the counter blocking his view. "Going strong." I said with a smile. Mac had gotten up and now accompanied me, placing his hands on my lower back glaring at Finn who seemed to glare back. I heard the rumbles of growls behind held back coming from the both of them.
"What would you like to eat?" Mac asked in my ear, causing me to shiver.
"I got a craving for donuts," I said putting the bread on the counter, planning to make myself some French toast.
"Come on," he said taking the pan out of my hands. "Let's go get you some donuts."
I stared at him, like he was a three headed dog. His smile never faltered, his eyes however were beginning to lose their shine in them. "Sure," I choked out. "I'll just...be right back." I said running out the kitchen like it was on fire, I grabbed on a chunky cable knit cardigan on top of my shorts and tee and slipped on a pair of ballet flats and ran back down the stairs. "Let's go," I said entering the kitchen again.
He smiled coming towards me.
"Wait I forgot my purse and phone."
"Doesn't matter, it's on me." He said taking my hand in his. I bid goodbye to them from the front door.
He drove to our local high street, it wasn't big and it wasn't small. It had a few boutiques here and there, nothing mainstream a few eat in places, a larger bookstore than the one near our house and a cafe. Not to forget the donut van that was planted in the middle of the High Street along with the Potato King, Habanero Mexican street food and the Cake Doctor. He packed in the free car park near the boutiques and got out and then helped me out. He took my hand in his and lead me down the street, I was still weary of this all, and cautious as I walked hand in hand with him to the donut vendor. He ordered me two dozen freshly made donuts with dipping sauce.
"Would you like anything else?" He asked as we walked back to the car.
I shook my head no since my face was already stuffed with the donuts we had just brought. I offered him some with a toothy smile of food. A very pretty sight. He chuckled and declined ever so the polite gentlemen. At the car he helped me in and even buckled me in.
We drove down the long winded road that lead to the house, it was secluded with lots and lots of trees, emphasis on lots. If you were too look up you'd see a beautiful green sky. Lovely sight it is. It's even amazing when it's raining, rain hardly ever gets through the thick canopy of leaves.
"Cara," He said turning the radio off.
"Hmm?" I asked popping another donut in. When he first ordered two dozen I scoffed, I wasn't going to be able to finish them but I was wrong they were almost gone.
"I know you're scared," -there was a pause- "of me."
He had slowed down, not to the point of stopping just that we were going under twenty miles per hours way under the speed limit. I turned to face him wide eyed. "No," I shook my head. "We are not having this conversation." I continued swallowing my mouthful.
"Cara," his hand reached out for me, I flinched all but jumping out the car window into my corner.
"No, stop it stop right there." I demanded. "You are not going to speak or explain you are going to drive me home or you stop the car and I make my own way home."
"Just listen to me!" He shouted his gentle approach gone out the window and now I was very afraid for my life.
"Stop the car now," I demanded. "Stop or I will jump out," I said unbuckling myself. He pulled to the side and I threw the car door open and broke into a run.
Didn't get far, nope, not at all. I just made it to the front of the car where he met me standing in front of me.
"I know you're scared of me," he said gently coming closer. "No one, not even my father or even Eh-anyone was able to get me in that state but you, you some how did. I don't know what it is about you but you piss me off, you piss me off so much you have my blood boiling, raging and you're so stubborn. When you said you're packing I thought-"
"You thought I was running away," I said it for him.
"Yes," it was a whispered, he was so close right now. Too close.
"But I'm not stupid." I continued. "To run away from the great Blackfoot a fool wouldn't do that you'd hunt me down and drag me across whatever sea or ocean I cross or whichever land I end up on and you'll bring me back screaming and kicking."
"I know I scared you," he said making me look him in the eye.
So mesmerising.
"I swear I am your best option right now, to protect you and our baby I'm the way to go. I promise that will not happen again even in that set of madness I still wanted to protect you."
"Protect?" I asked. "You became territorial all you want is what's inside the package as soon as the baby is out you'd want me gone faster than light can travel."
He shook his head, leaning in on my shoulder. Taking in my scent. "No," I almost didn't hear it. "And you, I want to protect you and the baby. I promise you I will never harm you." He said wrapping his arm around my waist pulling me into him.
He inhaled deeply and sighed in content. His lips trailed along my neck brushing against my skin in a feathery touch causing Goosebumps to rise. His breath fanned over my ear, brushing against it as he spoke. "I promise." He pressed a gentle kiss onto my cheek, that act so innocent had me wishing for so many things, wishing to do so many things to him, for him to do to me.
