Word had spread throughout the village, and the entire pack and the entire village full of humans were attending. We had a lovely turnout, far better than I had expected and everyone was enjoying themselves, I could spot the children of the orphanage running around enjoying themselves and the pack members interacting with the children. I had no worries about watching out for them, there were already several members of the pack dedicated to looking after them.

I anxiously awaited Enzo's arrival, as much as I pushed the thought to the back of my mind it was still there rattling around trying to consume my thoughts. I couldn't sit around and wait he didn't specify when he was coming whether it was today or at a much later date. It would've been easier if he turned up today could've easily blended the reason for his visit.

Mac was being oddly attentive today, keeping a watchful eye on me. It was like he knew I what I was up to. Luckily, I had somehow managed to lose him somewhere in the crowd.

I spotted Wes still dry as bone, it seemed as no one could get him dunked. I approached him smiling as he waved me over.

"How's it going up there?" I asked.

He tilted his head side to side.

"Getting bored, are we? Hasn't anyone managed to hit the target?"

"Nobody's a match for me."

"Are you sure?"

He nodded confidently. "There's no one who can outmatch me."

"Oh really," I asked pushing the button and watched the leaver under him disappear. He let out a yelp as he dunks into the cold water, which splashed over the edge of the tank.

"Cara, I'm going to kill you." He growled resurfacing.

"Oh really?" I mocked.

"Yes," he growled as he leapt out of the tank onto the dry grass next to me, engulfing me in a bear hug.

"You're making me wet!" I squealed as I tried to escape his hold.

"Is that so?" A deep voice asked from behind.

We pulled apart faster than light, to find Mac standing with an impeccable poker face starring us down.

"We, I-not like that," I sighed in the end.

He sent a glare at Wes who still had his arm around me which was immediately removed. "What is it with you and my brother?" He asked cocking his head to the side.

Wes glared at the insinuation, before I could say anything he spoke. "I'll see you around, Cara." Sending me a sweet smile before taking his leave.

Mac threw his arm around my shoulder bringing me into his side and pressing a kiss onto my temple.

"You know," I began, "for someone who sees me as nothing but a burden you are very possessive."

"Territorial," he corrected.

"I'm not some plot of land."

"Don't I know it." He mumbled giving my side a quick squeeze.

"Cara!" I turned to the sound of my name being called. I spotted Maddie making her way over. "Glad I caught you before we left." Her eyes crinkled making them almost disappear as she smiled.

"You're leaving?" I asked surprised.

"Yes," she nodded. "It's been quiet the day for the kids they've had so much excitement. Need to get them cleaned up and ready for bed. I wanted to thank you before I headed out, by the looks of things today has been quite the success."
