Leading~ Chapter 35

"I recognize those uniforms." Robins says after a few minutes of silence. "They belong to the cult of the Cobra."

"I am certain Batman would have mentioned if he knew a dangerous extremist was running Santa Prisca's venom operation." Aquaman responded.

"Agreed, and since there's clearly no love lost between the cultists and those goons, I'm betting Cobra came in and tossed them out. That's why normal supply lines have been cut off." Robin explained, but Kid Flash decided to sass him.

"We get it, Cobra wanted super cultists. Mystery solved. Radio Bat and we'll be home in time for-"

"These cultists aren't ON venom, Cobra's hoarding the stuff. We don't leave, not until I know why." Robin interrupts Kid Flash, who retorts.

"Until you know why?"

"This team needs a leader!" Robin tries to appoint himself.

"And it's you? You're a thirteen year old kid who ducked out on us without a word."

"Haha. And you're a mature fifteen? You blew our cover first chance you got!"

I interrupt their argument, my volume almost yelling before I caught myself. "That's it! If you think that age controls who is leader then, for this mission, none of you are the leaders. If age is the main factor, then automatically, the leader would be me or Natsu."

Robin turns to me. "No way! This isn't your team and you don't do these types of missions. You have no authority."

"Exactly! From what I can tell, none of you have what it takes to be a leader."

"Such clever ninos. But you only know half the story. Let me show you the rest-- Get you into the factory via my secret entrance." One of the guys that we tied up, said.

"There is a secret entrance, But he's also hiding something." Miss Martian confirms.

"Ah, ah, ah, chica. Bane is not that easy." The tied up man mocks.

"Ohh. He's mentally reciting futbol scores en espanol. This could take a while." Miss Martian tells us.

"It's not complicated. The enemy of my enemy is my friend." The man says as he smirks. I glare at the man and mentally challenge him to make one wrong move. He only continues to smirk as he is untied and guides us through the forest.

"Look at all that product. A buy is going down. But if Kobra's not selling to the usual suspects, then-- - We need to identify that buyer." Robin reports as he looks through binoculars. I ignore them as Robin and Kid Flash continue bickering. They are almost as bad as Gray and Natsu. Oh who am I kidding. No one can argue as much as Gray and Natsu.

"Answers are this way." The man says as he points down a tunnel. The man guides our team down the tunnel with Natsu behind him and the team behind him. I walk behind the rest of the group with Gray a few steps in front of me. E/n and Happy fly above the group, occasionally flying ahead or landing on top of one of the kids.

"All clear." Robin whispers, and without missing a beat, he runs into the building.

"Has that little fool already been caught?" El Luchador, as Kid Flash calls him, asks.

"No, he just does that." Aqualad responds.

"Stay put. I'll get our intel and be back before the boy wonder." Kid says before running off.

"Wait, Kid!"

"Great chain of command." Luchador says as he looks back at us.

"This is why I don't team up with non-guild members." I mumble frustratedly.

~Time Skip~

"Sportsmaster. He is the buyer? Aqualad to Red Tornado. Do you read? - Ugh. Can't reach the League, Robin, or Kid. Comm's jammed." Aqualad reports. "We need a plan"

"No," Luchador interjects, "I have a suggestion." He says before loudly attacking.

"I'm surrounded by idiots." I whisper in shock. Before I could react, a large, bulky figure bursts through glass and lands on the platform that we were on, instantly breaking it and bringing us to the main level.

"Destroy them!" A man in a red cape yells, causing the bulky dude to attack us. Superboy runs forward to take on the bulky man while Aqualad pulls out some type of weapon to block attacks from the caped men.

"Natsu! Gray! Cover me!" I yell. They do as I say so that I can safely requip, not wanting to take any chances with how many enemies we have at the moment. "Darkness Overtake!" I exclaim and requip. I open my eyes as my pupils dilate, making me look more like a dragon. "Shadow dragon: ROAR!" I screech and knock out a bunch of guys in front of Gray and Natsu, signalling to the two that they no longer have to cover me.

"We need to regroup." I heard Aqualad's voice inside my head.

"Not now. Maybe when we are less likely to lose our lives." I grumble over the mental telecom.

"We need to retreat." Aqualad said, and with no opposition, the team does just that, with Superboy doing all that he can to block the enemy's path behind us. I stop running for a split second to use my magic to raise a rock wall to separate us from the caped men and the bulky man.

"How could my first mission as leader go so wrong?" Robin asks, clearly upset.

"You do have the most experience. Perhaps that is exactly what has left you unprepared. Fighting alongside Batman, your roles are defined. You two do not need to talk. But this team is new. And a leader must be clear, explicit. He cannot vanish and expect others To play parts in an unknown plan." Aqualad responds.

"Oh, so I'm supposed to hold everyone's hands. who am I kidding? You should lead us, kaldur. You're the only one who can." Robin says sadly. Everyone voices their opinions, agreeing that Aqualad should be the leader. I stood off to the side next to my fellow wizards and the two exceeds, happy that they are finally learning. We continue talking until we are confronted by Luchador who confesses that he was only using us. I knew it.

We easily take him out and tie him up before running back to the factory and ending the problem. Well, sort of. The factory got blown up. We stand in a group facing the man that calls himself a god. The gray skinned back backs up into the trees and says "another time then." He seemingly disappeared into thin air.

"Well, I'm going home." I say as I deadpan.
