Chaeyoung's POV

"What were you two doing?" Jennie whispered to Lisa and I once we caught up.

"It's a secret." Lisa said, winking at me.

Jennie pouted, but dropped the topic.

"Eight people?"  The waitress asked, looking over our group.

"Yes, and a table please, not a booth." Jisoo inquired.

"Alright, follow me."

The waitress lead us to a table near the window which showcased the sharp crystals forming from the rooftop due to the cold. Intricate patterns of frost inlaid by Mother Nature covered the view. It indeed was starting to feel like Christmas.

Once we were seated, our table was silent. No one wanted to initiate a conversation with so many strangers seated.

"So Jisoo, mind introducing me to your accomplices?" The broad shouldered man I saw earlier broke the silence, and was looking intently at all of us, "Oh! I think I know you." He was staring at Jongin, Jungkook's older brother.

"Ah!  Did you attend Seoul High School?"

"Yes! You were... Jongin, right? Kim Jongin?"

Jongin smiled, "That's me.  Although I go by Jeon Jongin now.  My mother remarried."  He added when he saw the man's expression, "And you are Seokjin, right?  You were pretty popular in our grade, everyone knew you."

Seokjin grinned, "I'm pretty good looking if I do say so myself," he bragged, which earned him a nudge from Jisoo.

"Ow!  What was that for?" He whispered towards Jisoo.

Jisoo ignored his comment.

"Anyways, this idiot next to me is my boyfriend, Seokjin-oppa," Jisoo teased, "and the one sitting next to you, Seokjin, is Chaeyoung, and Jennie.  The one across from me is Jungkook, Jongin, as you know, Taehyung, and Lisa."

We all exchanged greetings with Jisoo's boyfriend, and I quickly picked up my menu to scan the possible victims for my black hole of a stomach.

After a quick skim, I settled on one appetizer, two main courses, and a dessert.  I had no idea how big the serving sizes were, but the food was relatively cheap, so I had a feeling the sizes were not very large.  I glanced next to me to see Jennie still considering her options.

I nudged her, and she looked towards me, "Hmm?"

"Have you decided on your order?" I asked her.

Jennie shook her head, "The prices here are cheap, but I have to be careful.  I have a budget to maintain after all."

Over the couple months I had known Jennie, I learned that she was not very wealthy compared to Jisoo and Lisa.  I wasn't wealthy, but I wasn't poor either: Middle class is what I like to call it.  Unlike Jisoo and Lisa, who had paid to take the entrance exam, Jennie and I got into the school through a scholarship.

I didn't know all the details, but I knew that Jennie's dad had left her family for another woman at a young age.  After his departure, her mom tried to provide for her two children; however, she fell ill at some point due to overworking, and she has been under treatment since.  Jennie was the oldest, so she had to take care of her younger brother and mom, and this left a great burden on her.
