Chaeyoung's POV

Jungkook and I walked side by side through the still somewhat darkened streets. It seemed the sun was taking its time to rise.

We passed over familiar buildings that were closed because it was far too early for business to start.

"Why did I even volunteer for this?" I wondered aloud, sighing.

I felt Jungkook's gaze on me and he chuckles.

"Because you're you and you like helping." He remarked.

"I mean, I guess." I said, shrugging my shoulders. "But what about you?" I paused, making a face. "I mean, you're not not kind, but I take you as someone.... lazy." I added, recalling the many times I had seen Jungkook plop down on the couch right after we got home from school. It took a lot of effort from me to wake him up. The things I do for this guy.

"Well, I am a quick learner. Words by you, not me." He teased.

I huffed. "That doesn't answer the question. It's beyond me to why you would want to sacrifice a whole day without me."

I kept walking, but was pulled back by a firm grasp on my wrist. I turned around, a look of confusion on my face. Jungkook head was bowed down to the ground, and I noticed a faint red hue on his ears. I felt my heart beat quicken when a thought crossed my mind. Wait, is this what I think it is? Is he going to--

"That's exactly why I volunteered." Jungkook mumbled, lifting his head up to gaze into my eyes. I was taken aback by how soft his features looked at the moment. It was the same facial expression he had when he talked about his mother, someone he had loved.

I bit the bottom of my lip nervously. "I-"

"I like you Chaeyoung."

Jungkook immediately let go of my wrist, using his hands to cover his face. "Ahh, this is so embarrassing."

My arm that he had held onto was still floating in air because I had not taken in everything that had just happened. However, after a few seconds, I felt my face heat up. In true Park Chaeyoung fashion, I let out a nervous laugh. A laugh. A freaking laugh of all things.

Park Chaeyoung, say something! Gah, you spineless idiot! Your crush likes you too!

Jungkook peeked in between his fingers when he heard my laughter, before he dropped his hands to his sides, scratching the nape of his neck. "I guess it's not mut-"

"No." I cut him off, finally regaining my voice back. "No, I didn't laugh because I found it funny." I took a deep breathe, trying in vain (but failing) to calm my racing heart. "I laugh when I get nervous, so it's not that." I played with a strand of loose hair, looking at anywhere but Jungkook. "I... I also like you. I've had for a while actually." I muttered.

There was a moment of silence before I felt hands wrap around my waist, and I no longer felt the ground beneath me. I yelped in surprise.

"Jungkook! Put me-"

"She said yes! She really said yes!" Jungkook yelled, spinning me around, a wide grin on his face. His face emitted so much happiness that I couldn't help but smile back. I realized that I liked seeing him like this. And what made it even better was that I was the reason he had such an expression on his face.

"Yes I did, but you can put me down now." I mused, breathless as the world around me spun.

Jungkook obliged, placing me back down on the ground. He still had his hands on my waist.

I felt butterflies in my stomach as we both shared another smile. "I am totally content with staring at you all day." Jungkook whispered, touching my left cheek with his right hand.

I offered him a small smile as I placed a hand on top of his. "I would be too, but we need to get going." I stepped back. "We still need to help out with the school festival."

Jungkook pouted. "Can't we go back to our dorm? I have no reason to help now."

I crossed my arms. "Yes you do. From the goodness of your heart." I teased, poking his chest.

"Fine, fine. I'll still help. But it's only because you asked." He replied cheekily.

I raised my eyebrows before turning around to walk towards the school.

Jungkook caught up easily with his long strides (damn him), and I felt him glance down at me repeatedly. After the 15th time, I met his gaze. "What? Is there something wrong?"

Jungkook shyly glanced down at our hands. "I was wondering if we could... hold hands." He said, his last words mumbled.

I felt my cheeks flush. "I.... I suppose." I replied quietly. The two of us looked down at our hands before slowly clasping it together.

"I didn't take you to be the type that likes to be touched." I admitted, gazing up at Jungkook.

Jungkook nodded, his face still a bit red. "I didn't either, until I met you."

"And you're so cheesy too." I added.

"It's all your fault. I blame you." Jungkook joked, squeezing my hand gently. "This reminds me of that one time I held your hand in Jeju Island."

I raised my eyebrows. "You sure there wasn't any ultear motives when you did that?"

Jungkook smiled mischievously. "My hand was really cold you know."

"Uh huh."

"It needed to find its heater."

"Which could have been the pockets of your jacket."

Jungkook frowned. "But those pockets weren't your hands."

I gave him a look of disbelief. "Jeez are you cheesy."

"You already said that."

"I know."

Jungkook chuckled. "I love talking to you like this."

I smiled softly. "Me too."
